Evening, surely the best time of the day because first there was eating, then there was poker and then there was bed time pleasures! Ahh and what a wonderful place to be! This new Weyr was perfect for him. If he could have been here his whole life that would have suited him just fine. Plus some of these Igen riders were quite cute. Oh he loved all these new things. Change was sometimes seen as a bad thing but T'ris took the good with the bad and made a decision to love this place.
The brownrider stopped to say hello to a couple of wingmates who decided to join him for dinner. His affable nature was enough to make anyone feel at home in his presence. The fact that he was already making an impression (good or bad) on people was also something that made him happy. Seeing the amount of food available, he proceeded to stack food onto his plate and had to be reminded that the Weyr was not about to run out of food.
"Nothing like a good meal, good company and a beautiful evening to set you on your way to a great night." He was almost giddily happy. Maybe it was the weather. He had no complaints about that. His pushed some of his rather messy blonde hair out of his face upon setting his tray down at a random table. As soon as he sat down his "friends" joined him. One of them, a bluerider if he remembered correctly, made a joke which sent the already loud man into a thunderous laughter. If people stared he would only be too glad.

Jinet stepped into the hall and saw her fellow wing rider T'ris, but she didn't see B'oone so she went over to him after getting herself some food "Mind if I join you T'ris I'm Jinet in case you didn't know" She waited for him to say yes before she sat down.

Ch'li, who was eating a very lovely meal at a mainly Altair table. He liked his wing well enough, seeing as most of the Igen riders had remained together. Some Telgar Riders(including a few female riding freaks) had been added, but most were a nice lot, and Ch'li had nothing bad to say about them. And being more comfortable with his Wing members, he tended to eat with them.
Loud boisterous laughter startled him, and he glanced over after the sound, only to see one very attractive rider. Blond hair, fit, scruffy. With a tiny smile of interest, the Greenrider took a sip of his wine(it was an evening meal, after all), and waited to see what else the blond would do. It was always so enjoyable to have entertainment during an evening meal.
There was only a slight frown when a woman approached the other Rider. A quick glance at the Blond's shoulder told him it was a brownrider, and they were never a safe bet. Too bad. Perhaps she wouldn't keep the blond from continuing to do something? He rubbed his scruffy goatee and waited.

T'ris, who was not unaccustomed to people walking up to him looked at the young woman with only a slight interest. He recognized her from Telgar, though it had been a while. "Jinet, yes, I think I know you from Telgar. Please feel free to join us." He looked down at his food and managed to scarf a good bit of it down before one of his other friends brought a couple more young ladies to join them.
The blueriders, who by all rights should have been more interested in the men seemed to be keeping the ladies around, more than he was. Oddly enough this didn't bother T'ris. To Jinet he said in a low tone, "I hope you like Dragon poker." With a mischievious grin, he looked down the table at those gathered and though he tried to keep his voice to an indoor level it needed to be loud enough for everyone there to hear above the din of the Weyrhall.
"Jinet here requests that we play poker after the meal...and you would all be very cowardly not to play at least one hand with her. " T'ris knew no one wanted to play against him. "In order to prevent all of you from losing your money to me, I'll be dealer." Another of the riders said loudly, "Why don't you play some Igen riders and take their money? We want to keep ours in our pockets."
"There is no Igen versus Telgar going on in my poker game. I haven't met any of the Igen riders yet but I'm sure they are quite amiable. Besides who wouldn't want to be here? Fine company, beautiful weather, white sandy beaches, new friends, new leader... its a brand new start. As with all brand new starts, we have a brand new title. We are no longer Telgar riders, we are Nova riders and we Nova riders are going to play poker. If you don't like it, leave." The clear eyed man watched as the people who were arguing about the poker died down. "Now Jinet, since I'm dealer, I can supply you with a couple marks for the betting portion, should you win you can pay me back right away, if you lose I'm sure you can pay me back another time."

Jinet glared at him and as if she wanted to strangle him but she made her hands into fist "You'll get yours. Besides I said nothing about poker." Jinet continue to glare at him as he started to deal the cards. She began to think of away to get out of it before she got in too much trouble. She put on one of the most Innocent face she could make and turned back to him "Well T'ris I don't know how....to..play poker..very well, could you teach me?" Jinet herself new very well how to play the game, she just didn't want to end up owning people money. As she sat there next to him waiting to see if her plan might work she smiled at him.

Ch'li laughed slightly at the sheer loudness of this Telgerian rider. A fellow bluerider by his side stared at the Greenrider, but at Ch'li head gesture, his friend merely smiled and nodded. They both appreciated a fine looking man, after all.
The trite speech about being Nova riders made the Igen Greenrider smirk. As if anyone believed that- maybe a Weyrling, but no grown rider who knew exactly where they belonged, and why, would ever release their loyalty to their first Weyr.
But the fact that the Brownrider was completely ignoring the freak female rider was intriguing. Was he uninterested? And his game of Poker was likely to end up highly interesting. While Ch'li wasn't the world's best poker player, it might be interesting to play against this Brownrider. Leaning over to whisper to the Bluerider, the Greenrider mumbled.
"I wouldn't mind losing a poker match to him." The Blue agreed with a lighting of eyes, and quick grin.

The brownrider listened to her threat and laughed. "Oh but you are the one who wanted to join us here. Now that you are in the thick of things, there is no backing out. If you want I'm sure there is someone here willing to teach you how to play..." He looked down the table and saw that most the people he recalled were not the best at explaining things like Poker.
Letting his hand run through his hair to push it away from his face he thought about what would be best. "Too bad you don't know how to play or you could have been Dealer. Well I'm going to have to be the one to teach you. From the looks of things, we are in need of a new Dealer and then we'll need at least one more for this to be at all decent!" He was paying her just enough attention to keep her around but he didn't buy for one second that innocence act she had just played.
He glanced around the room and while he wasn't looking for anyone in particular, his eyes met those of the greenrider who was looking at him. T'ris noted that the brown eyed man was rather attractive but after looking the man over decided he better get back to negotiating the game. "Last call if anyone wants in. Then we are going to set the stakes."

"Go play." Ch'li was urged by B'kat, the bluerider at his table. "Tell me how it goes- but not where Z'cos can hear." The wink was encouragement, and all of the encouragement that Ch'li really needed.
"Sounds good." With a quick movement, Ch'li was standing. He didn't bother to remove his tray, or make the job easier for the drudges- it wasn't what Ch'li had been raised to do.
"I heard." Ch'li began loudly, as he stepped towards the Brownrider's tables. "That anyone could join the game. That true?" He knew he looked good, though not perhaps why, with a nice trimmed beard, nice leathers, and a handsome face.
He swooped down to take a seat. "If so, deal me in."

T'ris didn't hide quickly enough that he was happy the other rider was approaching, he quickly responded to Jinet so that he seemed busy. "Oh you'll find the game won't be so bad with me as your tutor. Besides, we might actaully win." The only thing left was the one more they needed to play. Another person had already offered to deal. When the newcomer spoke up T'ris didn't hesistate to respond.
"Yes, anyone can join, so long as you don't mind losing a mark or two here and there."The brownrider's smile was welcoming and though it may have held a little something else in it, no one would notice if T'ris was being overly friendly since he was frequently that way with people he didn't know. "I don't believe we've met, I'm T'ris." Nerekoth would not be angry if he didn't mention his name though he too enjoyed attention. T'ris figured that this game needed to remain more casual.
He waited till the man was settled before nodding to the Dealer. "Okay so Jinet, the fundamentals of dragon poker are not that hard to grasp. You will recieve cards, look for anything that could potentially get you points, cards that don't make the cut get given back to the dealer and you'll be given new ones. The betting will start to the left of the Dealer."

Jinet looked at him as he explained the rules of the games to her. "Thank you for teaching me and are you sure we'll win." Jinet raised an eyebrow at him as another man sat down to join them. Jinet looked at the dealer who started to deal the cards, then turned back to T'ris "It seem to me like I'm annoying you T'ris."

Ch'li took a seat to the right of the Dealer. He wanted to see how everyone else bet in this game before getting into himself. Some places used higher stakes than others, and it was always bad etiquette to bet higher than what was common.
"Ch'li, of Igen. And as long as you accept Igen Marks, we won't have a problem with me losing or winning Marks." Ch'li paused a moment, and looked at the Greenrider and the Brownrider- T'ris. "Are we playing by Telgarian rules, or Igen rules?"
So, maybe Ch'li didn't want to be as Igen proud as he was, but most of his life revolved around how everywhere else was different from Igen. He took an unrelated moment to admire the Brownrider. It was too bad he seemed interested in the girl.

"No one can be sure that they will win, Jinet. Unless they know how too cheat well and even then someone here would be sure to catch said person and punish them. Most of this game has to do with logic and luck. More the luck it seems sometimes than the logic." He smiled politely and looked over at the dealer who was going to let T'ris answer the newcomer's question.
"We'll accept Igen marks. Any money is good money. Since the majority here doesn't know the Igen way to play poker it might be best if we play by Telgar rules. " Meanwhile he thought to himself, Ch'li... interesting name. No doubt because of where he is from. Does make him more interesting though. T'ris was always interested in people who had lived unconventional lives. The life of an Igen rider would seem somewhat exotic to him and therefore raise his interest.
"Are we all ready then?"

Jinet looked at him and raised her eyebrow thinking about the two words that stuck out to her the most "Well me and luck aren't really friends, and punishment can come in many ways" The longer Jinet sat the the more she thought to herself what have I gotten myself into. Jinet watch the dealer deal the cards she sighed to herself "Yes I'm ready." Jinet turned to the rest of the group and took a deep breath as she waited for her cards

Ch'li smiled and nodded in agreement over Telgarian poker. He wasn't as good at it as Igen's version, of course, but he'd get over it. There were, after all, more Rider's from the larger pool of rider's at Telgar.
"Deal me in then." He added, and smiled wryly, and looked around at the table. Though not everyone(or even most people) at the table were joining the game of poker. It was unfortunately, looking like most people didn't want to involve themselves with T'ris, and his poker games. Meaning the man was too good at poker- and though his comment about cheating probably meant he was naturally good at poker, it wasn't something Ch'li would embark on lightly.
Ch'li noticed that this side of the room was no less attractive than his own- which meant less than nothing, but it did mean that some of his friends might be interested in checking out the newbies. Even Telgar had normal Greenriders, after all.
He waited for his cards, and watched T'ris with the deck. His earlier opinion of general attractiveness was real. This was one pretty Brownrider, and one he wouldn't mind getting to know better.
