Name: Amneris
Gender: female
Age: 28 Turns
Orientation: flight bisexual, otherwise homosexual
Rank: Search Rider
Family:
Her parents are rather normal. They both are farmers at southern cothold close to Telgar Weyr. Her mother is 60 and has a bit of a strange accent, probably from her heritage. Her name is Daenari. Her father is quite happy with his family settings often he plays his gitar at night while the house settles down after the evening meal. Though he is not a harper he is a self taught guitarist. His family has passed down the gitar for generations giving it a nice robust sound. His name is Ferend. Amneris is the last daughter of eight children. Her siblings are as follows:
Kersa: 37 turns old, is hand fasted. She is a cook and has two children thus far a baby girl named Terisea, and a two turn old boy, Xaven.
Heimdel: 35 turns old. He is a newly appointed journeyman smith. He has no other family as of yet, currently courting another journeywoman.
Marrael: 34 turns old, and a farmer. Still lives with her parents though she does have a life of her own.
Serillis: 33 turns old. She is a journeywoman weaver. She mainly stays at the hold she was apprenticed in.
Delvion: 32 turns old, An apprentice beastcrafter. He is found mainly on the plains of Keroon learning as much as possible about raising animals and preventing diseases in them. He does have a knack with animals. Though he has advanced well past the apprentice level in knowledge the seventeen turn old does not mind waiting till the right time comes.
Kendara: A 30 turn old with a knack for trouble. Kendara has run away again. She had been apprenticed for a few turns but ended up being delinquent then too. What can they say? There’s one in every family…
Then there is Amneris.
Tavier: youngest child and much younger than his closest sibling. Tavier is still trouble at 22, though he is now the rider of a blue dragon called Courth (5) at Telgar Weyr.
She also has two aunts and an uncle still living along with numerous cousins, most of which are in drudge work and farming. No one in her family is or ever has been a dragonrider to her knowledge.
Pets:
She used to own two rather funny canines.
Amneris came across her first canine while on her way to her apprenticeship. She was a slip of a girl with a voice like only angels could sing. The harpers were more than glad to take her in. Well she had to walk with her mother the whole way to the Harper Hall. The pup was small and watched as she ate her meal, its ears half flopped over and the almond eyes begging for food. She gave the pup half her meatroll. Which her mother, shortly scolded her for. The little white and brown pup licked her hands making her giggle. She named the funny puppy Tipp.
Her other canine she found about two turns ago. She was going to sing for a hold with her trainer/master. As her voiced reached a high pitch, the puppy began to howl too. This one was a black puppy with ears that pointed straight up. She called this canine Half Note. She shortens it to Note often. The 3 turn old dog might be the death of her as she causes her poor owner to apologize for all the mischief she causes.
Tipp died about ten turns ago, half note about six turns ago. Amneris couldn't bring herself to own another canine since then, though she likes them a great deal.
Appearance: At twenty eight, Amneris is mediocre looking at best. She has platinum blonde hair from sitting out in the sun, tanned skin, scrawny arms and legs. She is slim and her shape is more athletic than curvy. The truth is Amneris is tall and thin almost too thin by some standards. She has a ready smile and though she tries to hide it, very cute dimples. Her light blue eyes are often unnoticed as they fit in with her hair color. There is nothing particularly abnormal about her. She dresses in harper blue mostly and generally wears breeches when not in riding leathers. A dress would do her figure no good.
Her rather tall stature does nothing for her. Long thin legs are not shapely nor are her thin arms. She has long dexterous fingers that play the gitar and pipes very well. Her height at the moment reaches about 5’10” and weighs about 150lbs. One must remember that Amneris has to keep herself fit for fighting thread. She doesn’t usually bother with her appearance as she finds there is nothing she can do about it. Besides there are more important things than how one looks right?
Personality: A little charmer as a child, Amneris is quite the talker. She feels no pressure standing up and singing for large crowds and actually loves the attention. Possibly because she is from a big family. She is very good with words and so is a decent writer. She enjoys spending long hours on the beach looking out at the waves, and playing fetch with her two wonderful canines. They truly adore her as well. The ex- Harper apprentice has been found singing to herself. Her favorite thing in the world is singing. Even dragons could not make her stop. Nor does anyone want to; her voice is simply awe inspiring.
Some of her less well liked habits are that she shirks her chores and tends to be a bit of dreamer. If you tell her something once you’ll probably have to say it again because most likely she didn’t catch it the first time. She hates reading old boring records and thankfully doesn't have to do it that often anymore. Amneris doesn’t much care for people who are overly down to earth. Sometimes she can be a bit waspish in her tone toward people, while other times sweet as can be. Of course that depends on the person and her mood. She believes that though it took her a while to get over the shock, impressing Labeth is the best thing that ever happened to her. the second best thing was meeting Jeyna.
History: If she had been born at a better time no one could imagine it. The moon was shining on the baby as she came out, with lungs like a dragon. Her mother was surprised at how loud the babe was. Her elder siblings crowded around the bed, looking at her with welcoming smiles. Well all her siblings but her two turn old sister, Kendara. She hated her sister. The two of them were constantly bickering growing up. That was until mother had sent Kendara away at the age of eight to their Uncles. Life was pretty normal for Amneris growing up. She loved the evenings most of all for that was when her father played his old gitar. She would beg him to play songs and she would sing with the sound of the gitar eventually harmonizing with her beautiful voice.
About a turn and a half after they sent Kendara away she was back and causing trouble. They decided this time they would find a way to get Amneris into a Harper apprenticeship. It took a lot of persuading and some auditioning on Amneris’ part. When there was a man willing to apprentice her it was a miracle. Women did not share the same rights as men in this world.
Her mother walked with her the whole way to the Harper Hall.
At her departure the girl cried, she would be homesick. Of course the little canine she found along the way did much to assuage the homesickness the young blonde felt. The harpers themselves were a merry bunch and she found herself in a place that was seemingly made just for her. Amneris loved music and could never get enough. She dreamed only of being able to sing and play for others. At about twelve turns she found her other canine, Half Note. Tipp, Note and Neris were a team. They went everywhere together and usually were found shirking chores and lying on the grass, Amneris would be singing and playing the gitar. She was what one would call a dreamer most of the time, so it wasn’t surprising to any of the harpers that she was found there.
Amneris was outside as usual when she was searched, her thin body sitting on the grass holding a gitar. The bluerider approached quietly as she had not seen him. She was intent on her music making, though her canines were not, they were fast asleep thinking she was safe from harm. As she finished the song the bluerider explained the situation. Amneris was first shocked and then angry. How dare they take her from the most relaxing atmosphere to a stressful one? Well the girl simply would not leave without her canines so the man made arrangements for her to meet up with him at Telgar Weyr. This was not normal behavior but the Master Harper said he would see to it she arrived on schedule.
She has been at the Weyr for maybe three sevendays, but she already has the routine down. The Candidate master was always chiding her for this and that. In fact a day didn’t go by she wasn’t sloughing off her chores and heading to the Lake or getting in trouble with her canines. It wasn’t that she hated chores; it was more that she was a dreamer and very much a forgetful person. Many times, she ended up doing the worst chores in the Weyr becuase of shirking her duties.
While a Candidate, Amneris made many friends, not the least of which Jeyna, a bluerider whom she thought was very nice. She saw her as a mentor at first. While her Candidate time was spent listening to lessons, when she attended them, she did spend more time thinking of music and her canines. As soon as Adeloth's clutch was on the sands though, Amneris began to feel herself grow nervous. Everyone here was so ready to impress and she wasn't sure she wanted to. The whole idea of possibly fighting thread scared her and she was almost certain that at fourteen no Gold dragon would want her. Not that she wanted a Gold either, they had way too much responsibility for her liking.
Standing on the Sands for the first time had her looking away from the eggs. Then she began to interact. She wanted to see who impressed to whom. The Gold dragonet burst forth contemplating the girls but not with anger. Labeth had been one of the first to hatch but not to impress, in fact people began to wonder why the little green stood watching and waiting so long.
When Gold Sheluth finally impressed to Neory, the green made her move. She had who she wanted all along. The olive green dragonet then came bounding to the girls, and in a super cheery voice: Amneris, I am so glad that my sister left you safe! And you have your freedom with me! I am Labeth, and I am very, very, very hungry. When the shock finally wore off and Amneris got used to the idea that she was going to be a dragonrider, she decided to take it on and become the best she could.
This meant going to lessons regularly and doing what the Weyrlingmaster said. When a second illness gripped Pern, Amneris was one of the younger generations easily susceptible to it. She fell ill and at one point her fever had become so bad she could not move. Labeth had to call for Ragoth for assistance. Jeyna took her to the infirmiry and from there to her own weyr. At this point Labeth was over a turn old and could fly to Ragoth's weyr on her own.
While it took some time to fully recover, Amneris would not forget how Jeyna had saved her life. The bluerider seemed to do that a lot and even if Amneris were inclined towards men, she would say Jeyna was her hero. As it was, Amneris wasn't inclined toward anyone except Jeyna. There was something about her that just held Amneris' interest. Maybe it was that she was the person she trusted most or her best friend. Who knew? All Amneris knew was that she loved her whether Jeyna knew it or not.
While Jeyna did know how the greenrider felt, she insisted that they needed to remain friends so as not to jeopardize the young Labeth. Of course that began to change. Labeth was growing more mature and while she had yet to have her first flight, the green made it known how she felt about male dragons and their kind to her rider. One afternoon, Amneris was in the Weyrhall when Jeyna approached her. There was something in Jeyna’s eyes that spoke of longing and lust and Amneris was never one to deny her own emotions.
Amneris saw their relationship changing after that. The greenrider was not one to tell others what they could and could not do. She was determined to let her lover make the decision to continue or discontinue seeing her other flight buddies. Whenever Labeth rose, it seemed that Ragoth was there to catch her. Even after they graduated Weyrlinghood and joined Triveni Wing, the pair seemed quite content with one another. It did take Jeyna longer than Amneris would have liked, to decide to be monogamous. In fact, she had wondered for a while if they felt the same way about one another.
She and Jeyna were often sent on search together which was a plus as far as relationships went. Labeth was a good search dragon but she was often more drawn to female candidates, which was not necessarily what the Weyr wanted. However, working with Ragoth the green was becoming better at searching males as well. They earned a reputation of being great Searchriders but also good wingriders. They followed orders and worked well with the other dragonriders. During threadfall they could be counted on to do their job, although it did make Amneris’ stomach turn every time they had to go and fight.
Somehow they managed to come out with few injuries other than a minor scoring on her left elbow and then a score on Labeth’s back left foot. Neither injury was of much concern and they were back on duty within a few days of each. Labeth’s left a scar but the injury Amneris received left a barely visible one. When she and Jeyna were called to some meeting she wondered why only select people were being called to it. Obviously only the people gathered there knew about it. Her curious side made her wonder at all the possibilities. She recognized a few other people but had absolutely never seen the two standing near Elisha and Neory. The short woman, as fairly attractive and couldn’t be any older than she herself was. The man was equally handsome and wore a similarly cold expression.
Dragon Info:
Name: Labeth
Age: 14 Turns
Color: Green
Appearance:
She is an olive colored green with very few gradients in her hide. From the day she hatched she has been in good condition and strong. Labeth is average sized for a green at around 27 meters in length. She has a scar on her left hind foot which is fairly noticeable. For those who have seen a thread score before, they know what it is, for those who haven’t it looks like it could have been some training accident.
Personality: One thing that stands out is that Labeth is pretty patient. She’s friendly, and very proud that hers has a great skill-music. Labeth is respectful, but also kind of spunky. She’s definitely more comfortable with greens and blues, but she can get along with anybody. Cheerful, upbeat and all in all a good natured green. She loves to Search Candidates with Ragoth. He is her favorite dragon to spend time with.
History:
The olive green dragonet then came bounding to the girls, and in a super cheery voice: Amneris, I am so glad that my sister left you safe! And you have your freedom with me! I am Labeth, and I am very, very, very hungry. After this Amneris promptly fed her green. For being so patient, Labeth surely wasn’t at all patient about her food that first meal. Much like her rider she had patience for some things but not all.
Weyrling training seemed to fly by and they took it as an opportunity to hone Labeth’s natural skills. She made a good Search Dragon, so the green trained under other Search dragons, especially Ragoth.
As she grew older she learned to fly, one of her favorite things. She matured as she should. Her first mating flight was caught by Ragoth and after that her rider made clear that was whom they would prefer catch them. Although they were search riders, they always seemed to be able to find a way to have Ragoth around for Labeth’s flights.
Labeth has been chosen for a special mission, which she deems important enough not to talk to other dragons about. Her rider says they are going because they are trustworthy and a Search pair.
