We all remember the reign of AIVAS and the technology that had been washed upon Pern… The new teachings that it to further excel life with the use of technology… The way life started to change and how they shot the Red Star out of its orbit…

What would happen if AIVAS had never occurred? If they hadn’t stopped thread from raining down upon their planet? If the Dolphineer Hall had been founded by fluke because someone had discovered that the dolphins were intelligent beings with the ability to communicate verbally?

Without all this… Life would go on, wouldn’t it?

And so it has.

This time, with a darker twist…

P e r n. It isn’t the way you remember it, not really. Pern is now a world where only the wealthy and powerful flourish. The people with a lower rank are left to struggle. They try to keep their hopes high, wishing for a better tomorrow, trying to get by. This is their life, they live in the shadows of their superiors. They don’t complain, it has always been this way.

M e n. They have it easy. With all their rank and power, they steal all the fame and glory. A man's account is accepted as being the truth over a woman's, no matter the accusation or crime. After all, a woman's worth is only in bearing children or running a household. She is expected to serve her husband dedicatedly, and without complaint. Even in Halls, a woman is nothing more than something to be put on show... A secretary, at best. Horrible, isn’t it? This is their life.

H o m o s e x u a l i t y. It's a curse... A disease to which no one has found the cure. Many are secretly killed because they 'choose' to love a member of their own sex. At best, these people are sent to the Weyr, where they don't have to be seen. A homosexual person is not a real person, after all. The women aren't bearing children, and the men act like women. There is no reason for them to be considered as a member of society. The worst crime of all is to be bisexual. They are choosing to be abominations.

T h e . W e y r. The Weyr is, and has always been, run by the Weyrleader and the other Bronzes. The Weyrwoman is nothing but a figurehead; something to be flaunted around. It is common knowledge that she retains her position simply because her dragon is capable of giving birth. Browns are second only to Bronzes while Blues are the drudges of the Weyr. The Greens, well they are also the sleepers of the Weyr. You can’t rape a greenrider, after all. You see, not everyone can be on top, and even those who have good intentions change. They have to.

R e s i s t a n c e. There is a very limited number of people who secretly fight for equality. It isn't safe to be part of the resistance. If you speak too loudly, you are silenced... It's the reality of those who fight.

A v e r i s . W e y r. The Weyr is located on the Eastern edge of the Southern Continent. It is barely half a day’s ride from the gorgeous Sea Hold, Reyal. Almost two-turns in age, the Weyr harvests a dark secret. It was originally created by hopeful Blue and Green riders who were looking for a haven, but havens never last. The Bronzeriders and Brownriders were quick to prove this. The Blues and Greens are silenced, the Resistance divided. It's almost a normal Weyr.
