On the morning that followed the Gold flight, the sun rose over the edge of the bowl, casting its light across the grounds; from the fire heights to the Weyr Bowl gates.
J'ren rolled his neck and felt it pop, then reached up and pulled at the fur that covered him..something? Another body, warm and soft and pressed against his. He managed to get his eyes open to see dark curly hair on the pillow infront of him. 'Laszreen. Yes, the flight. We won?'
Yes, J'ren. We flew fast and high, and I caught the Queen as she dove. Glaith spoke to his mind, stretched on the rocky shelf looking towards the bright blue ocean. He lay next to Elfreth, soaking up the days first rays.

Laszreen slept soundly not noticing that the man next to her had already awakened. The woman was fully aware of what had happened the night before and though she slept still, she would wake soon. Her fingers twitched every so often and she began to move around under the warm covers. Elfreth was awake and also fully aware of what had happened. She was not dissappointed in her flight and thought it had gone well considering her first choice could not fly her.
The dark haired woman blinked her eyes open. It took only a few seconds and her eyes were focused. J'ren was there, she knew, from the warmth next to her. He did not make her uncomfortable but there was that something she had with J'var that was missing. Laszreen had been through this once before, as akward as it was, she knew that this was not going to be that bad.
"Good morning J'ren." She said, with a sleepy half smile. "The sun is already rising I see. It's best we get dressed and ready. Neory and J'var will be needing our help. The day will be a busy one and you have a new job to learn." Laszreen was always a work first sort of person. She liked leading but to lead one had to spend a lot of time working. More than the average dragon rider.

A slightly fogged look crossed his face as he blinked several times. He usually prefered, espeacially after a flight, to wake up slowly, get reacclimated to his mind and body, and then move into his day. "Do you always wake up with this much clarity?"
J'ren reached over and moved a lock of hair from her face. His hand lingered before resting on her side, on top of the blanket. "I'm well aware that we have alot of work to do, but regaurdless of our ranks, who we are doesn't change." He gave her a smile of his own. "I'm dedicated to the success of this Weyr and the service of Pern. So why don't we start with a run and see to our dragons?"

Laszreen was not sure why he found that odd. "Of course." She always woke up knowing where she was and what she needed to do. Obviously she was a morning person, more so even than Elfreth. "I see..."
Maybe she could handle this in a nice way? Well she would try. "J'ren I want to get something straight right now. Your dragon caught mine but I am in no way obligated to do things with you. I'm sorry if this seems cold. I'm in love with someone who could not fly my dragon for the good of the Weyr." She paused, looked down at his hand and then continued.
"If you'd like to go for a run and bathe your dragon thats fine. I usually bathe Elfreth at night." Laszreen added defensively. He said it like she would risk the health of her dragon for the sake of work. The Queen was quite contented where she was but knew her rider was itching to get out of the sticky situation she was now in.

"Cold? No more than usual," He growled before getting out of the bed and walking over to the wash basin and standing on the oppisite side from the bed. He splashed water over his face a few times and rubbed his eyes to clear.
"I am quite clear on the rules of flight, but I am also aware that despite having flown your Queen, I know very little about you." He grabbed his undershorts and pulled them and then his pants on. "There has been bad blood between our Weyrs in the past and if we don't find ways to bridge our diffrences then it won't matter. There won't be dragons left to tend Pern." He had taken on a very serious expression.
He found his shirt tangled mingled with her own clothing on the floor, and offered hers to her. "Since we will be working together I thought we should at least know more about each other than name and rank," and broke into a grin before adding, " for the good of the Weyr."

ERRRGH. Laszreen took her shirt and tried to be quiet while he said his piece. Men were so easy to anger. She hadn't meant that he wasn't permitted to talk to her she just had a schedule already and she didn't like it being interfered with. "I'm sorry to have offended you, J'ren. I only meant that I have a schedule that I like to keep as it helps me get everything done that needs to be done in the course of the day."
Pulling her shirt over her head she didn't give much thought to what he saw or didn't see. He'd seen it all already. Besides she'd been bedded for the first time twelve turns ago and so it was a little late for modesty. She stood up without caring where she went to search for her undergarments. She found them nearer the bed than her pants and shoes.
She continued to put her clothes on in order before talking again. "I suppose we could grab breakfast together if you really feel the need to talk."

He finished stomping his feet into his boots. "Sorry, if I seem irritable. Not my best first thing in the morning." He pulled the bed covers back up.
He paused to listen for a moment, "Gliath says he will wait to the evening for his bath. Perhaps you can introduce me to your schedule?" His mind had slowly evened out, he was out of the early morning fog and feeling more agreeable.
