Ragoth was a good dragon. He was experienced and paid attention. But sometimes, even the best dragon would have a bad day. The Search had not gone well, and Jeyna was aggravated, wanting to get out of the stupid binding that she had to wear when they went outside of the Southern Continent. In an attempt to cheer up his Rider and to impress the lovely Labeth, as they emerged from between and before they settled in the weyr bowl, Ragoth pulled into a loop, after making sure that it was clear to do so. The blue did not mind showing off, but he was always smart about it.
At first, the loop did indeed cheer up Jeyna, until a flash of pain shot through Ragoth's right wing.
"Ragoth! Land!" Panic filled her mind, though she tried to keep it control so that Ragoth would not panic and between. Fortunately, the two managed to keep it together, and Ragoth painfully pulled out of the loop and managed to land.
It hurts, mine! It hurts!
Jeyna quickly unstrapped herself and slid down. "I need a dragon healer! NOW!"

What a pain in the arse all this hiding in plain sight was. Not only was binding her hair into a knot to hide under a hat but she had to try to sound more manly. Amneris was never going to sound anything like a man, so Jeyna had to do most the talking today. Anyone who knew Neris, knew she loved to talk especially to people who were being convinced to come to the Weyr. This in itself was not going well today. They had been turned down by some idiot boy and his parents.
Probably wasn't even worth a green anyway. Labeth was content to follow Ragoth in the air. Emerging from between, she watched the blue having a little fun, blowing off some steam and enjoying himself. Amneris was certain that Jeyna would be in a much better mood now. Neither the green or her rider were prepared for the landing that immediately followed the loop.
Landing a short distance from the blue, Neris saw that the dragon must be injured. "I'll bring them to you Jeyna. Just stay calm, I'm sure everything will be fine." Amneris tried to remain calm herself and confident that the blue had only acquired a minor injury. Still thoughts began to plague her that this might be serious. What would happen then?
Labeth stood next to her mate, though she did not understand fully what was going on, she knew that Ragoth was in pain. When Amneris returned with two dragonhealers and some assistants, maybe ten minutes had passed. She walked over to Jenya and put a hand on the other woman's shoulder. "I'm sorry it took so long but they are here now. "

Jeyna had completely forgotten about the annoyance of the binding as she had thrown her helmet and the hat which kept her from having to cut her hair to the ground and was trying to massage of the right wing that hurt. She could feel the pain herself, but focusing on doing something about it kept her mind off of it to some extent.
When she heard Amneris coming back she let out a sigh of relief. "It'll be ok now, Ragoth." Feeling Amneris' hand on her shoulder, she put her own hand over her lover's and moved out of the way so that the healers could get to Ragoth.
Once she was out of the way, she pulled Amneris to her, holding the younger woman tightly, drawing comfort from her, though she kept a watch on the healers as they tended to Ragoth.
It hurts... and they want me to move it.
Cooperate, Ragoth. They are here to help you. I know it hurts, but you don't want to stay grounded, do you?
Ragoth's eyes whirred, worry overcoming pain. Grounded? I cannot be grounded! Look at Labeth! It will not be long.
Jeyna's widened and she tightened her grasp on Amneris.

The greenrider was worried about Jeyna more than Ragoth. The dragon would only be calm if Jeyna was. Amneris let herself be held as long as she was needed. The greenrider watched the healers hoping that the prognosis was good and that the blue would be okay.
She felt Jeyna's grasp tighten and looked down at her, "You alright?" Amneris was genuinely concerned for her lover. Hopefully it wasn't due to Ragoth's current predicament. Bad news was not something they would be prepared for.

"Ragoth just made an observation about Labeth. Took me by surprise, though I suppose I should have been paying closer attention." She smiled to her lover and kissed her softly, "Pang of jealousy, I suppose."
Jeyna was not happy about the situation, but she fully understood the realities of the weyr, and was not concerned with what it would mean if Ragoth was correct. More importantly, it was entirely possible that Ragoth would not wind up being grounded. She lightened her grasp on Amneris, though she kept her arms wrapped around her taller lover, letting Amneris be the rescuer for once, and definitely taking comfort from her. Ragoth had been injured before - no dragon escaped without some minor thread score - but this had been completely unexpected.
It was a few minutes before the healers finished. "He'll be all right, but he's going to need to let his wing heal. That means no flying for a while. I'm sorry, but for about four seven-days, Ragoth is grounded."
Jeyna's jaw tightened. Four seven days? Even without Ragoth's observation, she was pretty sure that would have meant missing Labeth's flight.
She nodded, "Thank you."
"Make sure you let us know if the pain worsens. It's a sprain. The best thing you can do for it is to let it rest. We realize that short hops to the lake or the feeding grounds may be unavoidable - but keep it to the minimum. No Wing Practice, No Flights. Got it?"
Jeyna nodded. "I've got it. Thank you."
What am I supposed to do? That sounds boring.
I know. I'll try to keep you from being too bored.
Labeth's flight?
We miss one. It won't be the end of the world.
"I'm sorry, love." Those words were directed to Amneris. Her lover's dragon had never been flown by any dragon other than Ragoth, and Jeyna was pretty sure that Amneris had never even been with anyone else.

The greenrider listened to Jeyna's answer and for a moment was taken by surprise. She had never really put much thought into her dragon's flight times because she knew Ragoth and Jeyna would be there when the time came. The kiss felt like an apology but Amneris was the one that was going to feel guilty in a sevenday or so. She sighed heavily. Labeth had about as much choice of when she flew as Neris herself did, so there could be no help for what could happen.
The words the dragonhealer was saying were passing through the greenrider's mind as she heard but did not quite process what was being said. The words four sevendays rang in her ears. What would that mean for them exactly, she didn't know but she hoped it wouldn't affect their relationship. Amneris had always loved and would always love Jeyna.
This accident was not going to keep her from being happy. So she had to endure one moment with another person but with Jeyna she had a lifetime worth of moments. This would be over and done with quickly and she could return back to her life. Ragoth's health was more important than a silly flight. "Don't be sorry, lovedy. It was an accident. I'd prefer Ragoth to make a speedy recovery than to work himself up over one silly flight. It will be fine. You will see." Amneris smiled. "Whatever shall we do with ourselves with Ragoth being grounded?" No out of the Weyr searching or exploring.

Jeyna smiled. "It will be fine." She searched her lover's face for a moment. Jeyna understood weyr life (though so did Amneris), and she would not hold flight against her. She just hoped that Amneris and Labeth both realized that.
Then at her Amneris' question, Jeyna left concerns about the flight completely. She laughed softly, "I think we'll just have to find ways to entertain ourselves. Though hopefully, Ragoth and I won't drive you and Labeth too crazy." She grinned playfully. Jeyna was not overly concerned about herself. Worse case scenario of cabin fever for herself, she could with double with Amneris on Labeth - assuming the Green was willing. Ragoth, however, worried Jeyna. The Blue was sure to get stir crazy.
I will not be that bad.
I know, love. We'll just have to keep you from getting too bored.
Jeyna turned sparkling eyes to her lover, "After all, there's always swimming." She waggled her eyebrows suggestively at her, grinning.
Ragoth, calmer though disappointed nuzzled the Green. Would you like to sun, lovely Labeth?

Neris nodded with the assurance that Jeyna was not going to take this badly. She trusted that they were stronger than a one time flight. The bluerider seemed perfectly happy with Amneris and her light heartedness when it came to the situation. The greenrider wasn't sure how she was going to react and was glad Jeyna was of the same mind that she herself was. Better to do things to occupy both the rider and dragon rather than let them become bored and do something to injure themselves.
" Drive me and Labeth crazy? Never!" Amneris said with a wicked smile on her face. She glanced at Jeyna and then said, " Swimming could be a lot of fun..." The greenrider giggled and while she was thinking of how much fun swimming with Jeyna really could be, her dragon responded to Ragoth.
Oh, yes. Will you be joining me? She always liked having his company. Labeth had been a constant sort of green where most would have pegged her to be the flighty type. She knew that hers and Ragoth's were very happy together and that Ragoth was good company for herself.

Of course, lovely Labeth. I would hate for you to have to sun by yourself.
Jeyna glanced to the Blue, "Take it easy, Ragoth. Go straight to the ledge and remain there. Your wing needs to be allowed to heal."
Ragoth nodded at his rider, though he did not like the advice, he had accepted the necessity of following the rules of the Healers and of his Rider. Besides, despite what they had done to ease the pain, his wing still hurt, and he knew better than to do anything to cripple him for good. Of course, Mine. Go swim with Labeth's.
Jeyna chuckled, though her eyes were full of concern as she watched the Blue dragon gingerly "fly" (it appeared more like hopping to her, and she supposed that was a good thing until his wing healed) to the ledge that he shared with Labeth.
Satisfied, she turned back to her lover with a grin, "Espeicially if we can find a spot to swim where no one else is." She waggled an eyebrow. It was swimming where Jeyna first fully caught the younger woman - even if her inhibitions being lowered had been the result of a failed flight attempt.
