T'ris because of his recent involvement in disorderly behavior at the Weyrhall had been given a task by the Junior Weyrwoman. If he hated anyone, it was her. Rolling his eyes he landed Nerekoth. The brown was just as irritated. Weyrlings? Really? Ugh. He sighed and dismounted. The Weyrlingmaster was preparing tomorrow's lesson, and would be coming along to help after T'ris got the kiddies started. Putting on his usual thingyy smile, he told Nerekoth to call on the dragonets.
Weyrlings meet us just outside the Barracks. It is time for your training today. Nerekoth, although slightly perturbed was not the sort to let these things get to him. He was a brown dragon and would do his duty, even if this was more of a punishment from that Goldrider.
As some of them began to arrive, he smiled and nodded. He knew they would not recognize him. "Hello, I'm T'ris of Procyron Wing. This is my brown, Nerekoth. Today we are helping out the Weyrlingmaster who is working out some plans for you for tomorrow. As this is your first full day as dragonriders you will be needing to know the basics." T'ris' often booming voice was loud enough to reach any Weyrling there. "First thing is first. I trust your dragonets are starting to complain of itching hides. Do not let them scratch. Everyone grab one of the buckets in front of me. Inside is evreything you will need to give your dragon a proper bath."
He waited. As impatient as ever, T'ris decided to look them over as they came up for their buckets. A diverse group, that was for sure. Girls, boys, men...well, Sheluth was bound to do well. She was a proven breeder. Nerekoth of course wasn't paying any attention. He knew they would do as they were told. Too afraid at this point to do anything that would be a detriment to their new dragons.

R'cay was the first one is the classroom that day. He took a seat in the front and slouched in his seat while T'ris introduced himself to everyone and told them to take a bucket. He got up and grabbed one as he waited for what to do next Hurry up R'cay get the bucket and and get your rear in gear R'cay laughed at his dragon Clam down Corunth I don't even know what to do next. Corunth snorted at him Well find out. Good morning Nerekoth

At Nerekoth's call, Mnemoth bumped K'lain's hip with his head. :Hurry, K'lain. We're called,: the dragon urged. Though he was rarely one for haste, he did itch very, very badly, and it had made him irritable.
K'lain, for his part, was not about to shirk where his new duties were concerned, and so he and Mnemoth were quick to respond to the call, arriving at the most brisk walk that Mnemoth's still-short legs could manage comfortably. The boy scanned the area quickly, selected a reasonable area to await instructions, and led Mnemoth there.
The pair did not have long to wait. The unfamiliar (as were all the riders, here) brownrider was quick to provide instruction, and K'lain was quick to comply, suppressing a small smile as Mnemoth piped up happily, :Itching? Are you going to fix the itching? Is that what he said?: K'lain shushed Mnemoth with an idle, friendly thought and collected his bucket, then returned to the dragon's side, resting one hand on his head, between his small head knobs.

Oh! Said the voice in the girl's mind. The girl looked up at her dragonet--she had been laying down on duty. She smiled as she reached to the back of his head, instinctively scratching his favorite spot to be scratched at. "What is it, Evenoth?" A dragon has summoned us! Maybe he will get rid of this itch?
Zenniel smiled as she sat up, then pulled herself into a standing position. "Well, little dragon, let us go and do something about that itch." And she placed her hand on the little blue's wonderfully soft head as she led him to where the large brown and other candidates already were. Since Evenoth had hatched, Zenniel had not felt as shy as she once had. For one, Evenoth was always listening to her, always with her. He was with her now, and she didn't feel half as afraid as she should have.
I itch! Evenoth complained even as Zenniel picked up the bucket. "Oh, don't fret, little dragon!" Zen replied affably. "You won't itch soon. And don't you dare itch at yourself, either." She held her bucket in one hand, idly, and with the other she scratched gently behind Evenoth's ear knobs. Evenoth's eyes whirled blue with a hint of orange--the orange for his unsatiable desire to itch.

C’dest had been sitting outside, quietly talking with Erinetath as the sun rose. The little bronze had take up residence on the man’s right side with his head rested on his riders warm legs. Already they had learned much about eachother, but there was so much neither understood – most notably why C’dest couldn’t keep down his breakfast. It puzzled the bronze greatly and the little thing seemed very determined to talk his rider into eating more until it would finally stay down.
But you SAID that you rarely get sick, why do you insist on starting now? “I’m not doing it on purpose, Erinetath. It just happens.” I think you are being silly, just don’t let it come back up. Maybe you just need to chew it more. “I am NOT chewing vomit. That’s discusting.” Your right, that stuff smells nasty. Why not wash it off first, then finish chewing it. “I don’t think you understand…” I understand perfectly, your just being a silly human again.
C’dest let out an exasperated sigh, looked out over the bowl again – half frustrated and half amused with the bronze’s argument. While Erinetath didn’t understand a lot of things, his logic was at least proving to be sound and he did not seem to mind puzzling over matters, which C’dest found even more reassuring.
A brown wishes us to report outside the Barracks. the little bronze said suddenly, raising his head to look toward the door not far off from where they had been sitting. It is a brown who calls, I think we’ll answer just to see what is going on. I am curious. And hungry.
“That’s a good idea I think,” C’dest answered, surprised as he pushed himself to his feet. “And you are always hungry.”
Perhaps you should feed me more. Again, C’dest gave him a sideways glance that was half a glare with a strange mix of amusement. The two of them approached the growing group, but the new bronze rider did not have much time to take in his new class before orders were given. Stepping forward without hesitation, he picked up a bucket and returned to the side of Erinetath who immediately took hold of the bucket and dumped it on the ground.
C’dest did not hide the plain slap to his own forhead, before he bent over and began putting everything back in the bucket. “What are you doing, Erinetath? For love of a dragon, don’t touch it till we know what we are doing.”
I know you love me, C’dest. I just wanted to see what was inside. Ooo what’s that?
“It’s a bag of something, probably sweetsand – let me put it back in the bucket.” The pair seemed oblivious to the class until they managed to get the rest of the items back into the bucket. By the end of the ordeal, C’dest was blushing brightly.

Falia and Naraleth Falia and Naraleth walked in like t, at least Naraleth did, Falia was just bold when walking in. She just smiled sweetly at anyone who had the nerve to look at her with a "what happened to you" look. She and Naraleth looked perfect together, and they both new it, of course, Falia loved her Naraleth, and so she was a touch doting on her Naraleth, and what Naraleth wanted, she was often willing to do, though the same worked the other way around.
Noticing that Chedest, now C'dest, she waved a slight hello, as she was allowing herself to be more bold now that she had impressed, that didn't mean her scheming was gone, like at the moment, she was trying to figure how to work herself up into high up positions....
Naraleth's hide was itching something crazy and Falia didn't know where to get all the supplies and stuff to oil the hide, or even how to oil, she was only too glad when the stand in or whatever the guy was, weyrling master person told them they would be treating their hides today.
Falia quickly waled up and grabbed a bucket and went back to her beautiful green Naraleth.
Weyrling MasterK'met and Heverth K'met entered quietly and looked at the weyrling who were already there. Looked like a nice crowd at the hatching. He told Heverth. He felt Heverth's agreement to the statement.
Looks like our assistant for today has already started the weyrlings grabbing the buckets.[/color Heverth commented to his. Nodding to the brown rider and Nerekoth, Hevereth then said to all the weyrling's dragonsMine, is your weyrlingmaster, K'met, and I am Hevereth.
At the same time K'met said in a quiet voice that demanded instant attention, "Thankyou T'ris for starting the lesson, I was running a touch late on my plans." Then, turning toward the weyrlings, K'met said, "I am your Weyrling Master, K'met of bronze Heverth."
He then said to T'ris, "Please, help anyone that doesn't understand the washing process."
Heverth, please explain to them. K'met said to his dragon.
Heverth quickly piked up the line of thought and told all the weyrling's dragons You must instruct yours on how to do this, so as to practice communication, Nerekoth's and mine will help to make sure this is properly communicated. Heverth continued on to say, So take out the sweet sand and rub it into your dragons hide, making sure to mix water in with the sand when using it, then, you rinse the sweetsand off, and then yours will oil you in a circular motion. Mine will demonstrate and then feel free to ask questions. With that, K'met began to clean Heverth in exactly the process that Heverth had described to the weyrling's dragons. When he finished, he waited to see if there were any questions.
Falia and Naraleth Falia was at first surprised by the Weyrling Master who just came in and took over, but it was his job. She was a little confused with what Naraleth told her, but then her confusion cleared up when she watched the weyrling master demonstrate.

Nashira entered with her elegant little Aramyth. The green cooed a little as she caught sight of the other dragons, Isn't this exciting, NashiraMine? We will do well, stand tall. The green dragon nudged Hers forward and Nashira walked to the group. She was smiling softly, her long brownish black hair plaited into a thick braid and tossed over her right shoulder. She put out her hand and was met by a warm eyeridge belonging to Aramyth. She giggled a little and the dragon made a soft purring noise signifying her happiness.
Then Nashira was confronted by the back of her childhood friend, Chedest. She had not had much time to talk to him and figured she owed him a congratulations. She stood next to him and slightly turned her head to whisper, "Congratulations Chedest, on your Erinetath." She gave a quick smile and then covered her mouth for a moment, "Oops, sorry, I meant C'dest. It's going to take me forever to realize you have a new name."
Mine, it's of great importance, a dragon had said... Everything coming from a dragon was of great importance to Aramyth. It could have been a green who was saying the weather was windy to the north, and it was greatly important to Aramyth. So then they had to wash.
Nashira took great care to wash every crevice and crease of wing Aramyth might have. She was slow and deliberate in her job because she desired to do very well. Nashira never did anything half-arse, and she wasn't going to start now. ---- S'rtol was having great fun. His dragon never shut up! The azure colored dragon loved to chatter, and never about the same thing. However S'rtol got on before Quin, he didn't know.
Get up, get up, lazy legs! A brown told us to meet for our lessons! I think we better go. Maybe our brothers will be there? Of course Quinsyth meant only D'tre and bronze Keebrith. S'rtol's best friend was his brother, so naturally they'd spend a lot of time together, and Quin knew their brother-bond was important to S'rtol. "I'm up, I'm up. Come on then you prancing little fool."
Ha! Prancing, you have not seen prancing yet! I will make a fool of you before anything. Hey, I am kind of hungry. A little itchy too. Oh look, every one else is there already! Sure enough, there were quite a few already assembled.
"Great, we're late." No, they are just early. I think you need to wash me. This bronze Hevereth is talking. "Well let's get you washed." S'rtol was still getting the hang of talking to Quinsyth with his mind so he often just spoke outloud.

T’ris as his usual charming self, smiled at the Weyrling Master. The man was probably much happier to be working with the kids than he was. Hence the reason it was considered a punishment for him. He couldn’t even flirt with them they wouldn’t be able to have relationships for a long long time. Poor kids. He grinned a little. It was nice to be a full rider. Nerekoth’s reply to what K’met said came shortly after the instructions. We will help the young ones.
The pair followed what was being said to make sure they wouldn’t confuse anyone. Washing a dragon was not as hard as it might seem. The brownrider was of the opinion that you should make a system and then stick with that. Then you never missed a spot. Missing a spot was a bad thing for a growing dragon. More than speed they needed to wash them perfectly. Mistakes could cause a dragon to tear its hide and make it sensitive to flying Between, thus making the dragon unable to fly Thread.
D’tre was awake sitting next to his new lifemate. They were early risers and while the dragon had commented more than once about how his hide itched, the young man knew better than to let him scratch. “Don’t worry, I’ll ask the Weyrling Master about it at lessons.” Keebrith responded with a low guttural sound, which wasn’t quite a growl. The Bronze did control himself as D’tre had told him to. After the sun had risen enough that they could see their way to where they stored food for the hatchlings, they left the ledge. Keebrith was also hungry.
The dragon wanted to eat so much that D’tre had to be very firm with him. Stubborn dragon! I want more. I’m still hungry. “You have had plenty. Leave some for your clutch mates.” Listen human, I am the best dragon here and I will have more if I want it. They slept in, I’m eating their share. Snooze you lose. D’tre was not about to let his own dragon treat him that way. He didn’t let anyone walk all over him.
The young man was obviously irritated. To the point where he wasn’t sure he was speaking out loud to his dragon or using telepathy with Keebrith. You had better get over that attitude this second. No way are you eating any more than you already have. Unless you want a split hide, which I think you will agree would cause you more pain. Then there is the fact that you won’t be any use to the Weyr injured and most certainly not the best dragon here. If you continue to disrespect me and your clutch mates I will personally see that you get punished. The Bronze stood stock still. Tone had a lot to do with how one’s voice presented itself and D’tre had mastered that already. Keebrith did not like D’tre mad, at all.
Before either of them could move from that conversation, Nerekoth bespoke the Weyrlings. D’tre put one calloused hand on the Bronze beside him and walked with him to where the class was gathering. T’ris seemed a nice enough fellow. There was lightness in his eyes that made D’tre think, he must be a rather laid back person. He went forward to take a bucket, trying to ignore the commotion from where C’dest was. If it were D’tre he would want people to look the other way. It was that moment that he noticed the Weyrling Master coming out with his dragon. The large Bronze made D’tre look at his much smaller version. Was he really going to get that big? Oh dear. As much as Keebrith tried to relay what Heverth was saying, he got caught up on some of the things as he was trying to remember what was being said at the moment while telling D’tre what had already been said. It was a difficult first mental task for him and he was getting frustrated.
“Just take your time. Whatever we don’t get we can ask about later.” D’tre whispered so that no one but the pair of them could hear. He didn’t want to distract the other Weyrlings.

I still itch. This thing doesn't help me much. Evenoth said, nosing the bucket. Zenniel laughed and pet her dragon on the head, "Little dragon, this is a bucket. But it's not the bucket that you need." She took out the necessities, and was instantly happy that R'ko had let her help wash Deshenorth.
Oh, it's a bucket. So what does a bucket do? [/b] Curious, the small blue pushed his nose through the bucket's opening. Zenniel, laughing, took the bucket off, "it doesn't help on your nose. Look here." She filled the bucket with water, and started to massage soap sand onto Evenoth's hide. The blue shivered with delight, The itch is gone! Which made the girl smile more. She loved it when her dragon was happy--even if she and Evenoth had only been together for less than a day. After she had covered Evenoth from head to toe in 'the wonderful itch-relieving sand,' Zen rinsed him. "How does that feel?" She asked as he shook off. 'Just like a canine' the girl thought, a smile still plastered on her face. She knew this was just one washing of the many thousand or something to come, but she was fine. If it was for Evenoth, she was fine. She was not aware, however, that she was the only female with a blue. Sure, a lot of females had Impressed, but only to Greens. She was happily in love with her life partner, Evenoth, which happened to be a male color. A blue. Not many females Impressed, and much, much rarer did a male color Impress himself to a female. But Zen didn't care, and neither did Evenoth. If someone were to ask him, he would say that he knew she was his. If someone were to ask her, she would just say that it was fate. And, as fate would have it, since she had Impressed, Zen now had Weyrling duties. And one of those duties included oiling the royal-blue dragon hatchling in front of her--And Evenoth was no longer complaining about an itch.[/blockquote]

F'ilpek and Sheanath had been unusually silent since reporting, and taking the bucket from the front of the class. There were multiple reasons for this. The biggest reason was that Sheanath didn't itch. The light, bright, sea colored green had been washed once already, and while she was interested in having another bath, her rider had already, when she'd woken him up a little after sunrise, borrowed supplies from a friend, who had once been a candidate with him, and bathed away the itch.
The second, less important reason was that F'ilpek hadn't been able to stop grinning since Impressing. Everything that went on around him didn't catch his attention much, because no matter what he was doing, all of his attention was on Sheanath.
He didn't bother bragging that he already knew how to do most basic things with dragons, and merely set about proving that he did. And drifted into conversation with his sharp tongued(and toothed) partner. Silently.
So, what do you think about your Clutchmates?
Well, we have quite a few Greens, which is of course, good, because Greens are the building block of Weyrs. But, so far, most of them seem rather silly. And I don't know about the bronzes. Why, they showed up unbathed. Wouldn't a bronze know to tell his rider to bath him? Ha! Foolish Dragons, that's what they are.

The blush that had warmed his cheek was, thankfully, beginning to fade. Watching as another man and dragon – both full grown – entered the area, C’dest noticed a wave from off to his side. Glancing over, he recognized Falia and smiled. Giving her a nod, he turned back to the pair who was introducing themselves. The bronze rider was surprised and impressed that the girl had impressed to a green. He had thought her too shy to impress, apparently boldness didn’t matter to the hatchlings.
A whisper caught his attention and turning to his left, an even broader smile spread his lips as he found himself face to face with Nashira.
“Thanks Nashira, and congratulations to you too.” He replied, looking down at the little green. It was pretty obvious that it was the smallest of the clutch, but it was a green none the less. “Hello pretty thing.” He said softly to the green before looking back up to Nashira’s face. “Forgive me, I didn’t catch her name.”
At that moment, Erinetath stuck his nose between his riders body and the bucket hung from his arm, nudging it out of the way so he could look at the green as well from the other side of his rider. Oh, that’s Aramyth. She was the last to hatch.
Laughing, C’dest lifted the bucket to his other hand to make room for the bronze head. “Aramyth?” he asked, not 100% confident in his dragon’s knowledge.
Don’t question me. Besides, the bronze says you get to wash me now. Pick up the sand, I’ll tell you where and how. At this, the bronze weyrling moved toward the edge of the water before flopping right down in it and rolling around a moment. There, I’m wet, now put the sand on my back, it itches terribly.
C’dest squinted at the bronze, “You know, your awefully bossy. I think we need to work on that.” Glancing back to Nashira, he blushed and shrugged before moving forward and following his dragon’s orders.
Oh yeah, that feels gooooooood. The little bronze purred as the new rider found a particularly itchy spot and scrubbed a bit harder, the smile back on his face.

R'cay laughed as the little blue started to purr while he washed him. The little blue opened his eyes and turned toward R'cay That feel good R'cay but my back still itches don't forget to do my back. R'cay looked at Corunth and raised an eyebrow Don't worry I will not forget to do your back.
R'cay looked around at his fellow clutchmates and carefully looked each one over. He noticed the blondie girl that had stood next to him at the hatching, He waved to her and then saw Felia with her green. His first impression of he was that she was nice but he still didn't really like her to much because there was just something about her that made his skin crawl, but eather way he waved to her as well.

The brownrider walked to the Lake like some Weyrling, and wondered how he had ended up with this kind of chore. Was there any way that lady could be more evil? I don't think she likes us much.Oh no, you aren't dragging me into your mess. I was asleep for all of that. She likes me fine, its you she deplores.
T'ris, rolled his eyes and began walking faster. The sooner the better. If anyone needed his help they would ask for it. Aren't you coming?Unlike you, my two legged companion, I have the ability to fly and as such, I am already at the Lake. Laughing loudly, because it was hard for T'ris not to be loud and even harder for him not to be notieced, he added to his brown Ah well, you are obviously my better much more mature half.
-------
D'tre examined the contents of the bucket and knew he would do an excellent job scrubbing because he had turns of practice. He may not have been scrubbing dragon hides but he was scrubbing a rather large ship for quite some time now. His dragon might not see that as training but D'tre felt much more confident that this would go well, now that he understood what must be done.
Keebrith did not immediately walk into the water. He preferred to watch the other dragons go right for it. The Bronze chose his spot with great care. He wanted a better place to bathe than the others. Perhaps he was picky but he saw it as being smart. D'tre followed his dragon down to the water, realizing he was a fair distance from any of the others.
Maybe S'rtol would come over and join them. His brother was the only one in this clutch he really knew though he had become acquainted with R'cay the day before the Hatching had occured. It was a coincedence that both the other boys had impressed to blue dragons. He took the sand out of the bucket and looked at it. So he needed to scrub the dragon with sand? That seemed silly but he would do what he was told if it meant making his dragon happy.
Once he had immersed himself in the water Keebrith came back closer to shore and waited for D'tre to begin working on him. The Weyrling pair were pretty sure they knew what to do and therefore did not bother the Weyrling master or his assistant for help.

K'met watched the weyrlings, waiting for any questions to come up. He meandered amongst them quietly and then decided that they would need to feed their dragons soon and then he would release them for the day.
K'met said quietly to Heverth, Heverth, will you get the weyrlings attention?
Heverth, understanding what his rider wanted then said to the weyrling's dragons, Mine would like to speak to you quickly, so please turn your attention and your rider's attention toward him while he speaks.
Once K'met had the weyrlings attention he began, "After you finish bathing your dragons, you will then want to feed them again. Once they have fed, they will be sleepy so you may take them back to their weyrs and let them sleep. Tomorrow, we will begin work on anatomy and basic healing. I expect to have you all there bright and early tomorrow morning, so don't be late! If your dragon has not awoken yet, you can come without them and return to them if you feel them waking. You will feel it when they start to wake. When they wake, you are to bathe them and then feed them if they are hungry. Now, finish bathing, rinse in the lake, feed your dragon, and then you are dismissed."
K'met then said to Heverth, I hate having to give long speeches, oh, and will you tell T'ris and his brown thank you for starting the lesson? I wonder if we can have them back...
Heverth then said to his K'met, Mine, you make such good speeches though when you do make them.
Then, Heverth said to the brown dragon Nerekoth, Mine would like to thank you for starting this first lesson.
*****
Naraleth told Falia that the weyrling master wnated their attention, and so Falia continued scrubbing Naraleth, but she turned her attention to the weyrling master. She groaned when she heard about the early morning class, but, she would go, if not just to have people think her the goody good kind now that she had impressed. It was so much fun giving people surprises. Falia quickly finished with the beuatiful Naraleth and then the two of them went down to the lake to rinse. Naraleth went in quickly, wanting to eat. She had informed Falia that she was hungry. When Naraleth had finished rinsing, the two walked toward where food for Naraleth awaited them, and then she quickly cut up Naraleth's food and fed it to her beautiful green. None could ever compare to Naraleth in Falia's mind.

K'lain, having never been a particularly proficient social vtol, had been sitting out much of the reserved chatting in favour of Mnemoth's company. 'Awful friendly bunch, aren't they?' he mused, watching his beloved dragon's clutchmates and their new riders.
:I supp--Heverth's speaks.: Mnemoth abruptly dropped their conversation and whipped his head around to pay keen attention. Startled by the dragon's sudden change in attitude, K'lain perked up and canted his head, listening curiously.
:A bath!:[/color] Mnemoth bubbled cheerfully, looking up at K'lain with bright, happy eyes. K'lain smiled and shook his head. It was moments like this that reminded him just exactly how young Mnemoth really was. Scooping up the bucket he'd set at his feet, he knelt down and began washing the little dragon from snout to tail.
