Name:
Zenniel
Age:
15 Turns
Gender:
Female
Rank:
Bluerider
Location
Hold
Family:
Zenril – deceased – Lower Caverns Woman
Norooth – 42 – Holdfolk
Appearance:
--->the eyes: Zenniel’s eyes carry a light blue hue, so light blue that they are essentially silver. In the light she looks like she could be blind, but in the dark they seem to take on a darker hue, looking dark gray or black.
--->the hair: Zenniel’s hair is a light, almost bleach-blond coloring. No other colors exist in it, and so one would not see brown, red, or black. Her hair is not bleached, however, but rather natural. Her hair falls to about her shoulders, maybe an inch or two below them.
--->the face: Zenniel has an almost childlike face, even if she is a teenager. A smile is almost always plastered upon it. She has full lips, a dainty nose, and a fair complexion. She is one of the few teenagers who don’t get acne regularly.
--->the build: Zenniel has a strong, lithe form. Her skin is slightly tanned from being out in the sun almost every day. She has muscles from working with herdbeasts. Her muscles do not show, as a male’s muscles may. Her legs are muscular, too, since she loves to run.
--->the clothes: Her normal clothes include wherhide boots, a wherhide jacket, a pair of pants and a shirt. She also wears wherehide gloves most of the time and her left arm is wrapped in cloth. This is because she is left-handed and a lot of things (hides, claws, horns, ect.) scrape against her arm.
--->the height: Zenniel is still growing into her height. As of now she is at least 5’6”.
--->the scars: Working on a farm is hard work. The girl is not perfect, and so has a few scars from her work. Two are on her left arm, a small one on her wrist, and a larger one extending from her elbow to halfway up her arm. Both are healed seamlessly, and do not hurt. She has one on her right arm, from the middle of her lower arm circling almost all the way around like a bracelet. One scar can be found on her left shin, where a herdbeast kicked her, and another can be found on her right ankle, where she tripped and fell onto a metal box and cut the ankle up. No more scars can be physically seen when she wears her clothes, though there is a ragged gash on her left thigh from who knows what.
Personality:
---> around friends: It takes a lot of things to get Zenniel out of her shell. In fact, she’s usually always seen alone, off in her little dream lands. This isn’t to say that she doesn’t have friends. Quite the contrary, Zenniel is good at making friends… with animals. Very rarely will she open up enough to be friends with ‘anyone’ other than an animal. Who will crack this shy creature?
---> around adults: Zenniel is a polite being by nature. She always says ‘ma’am’ and ‘sir’, or if speaking to dragons, she tries to be as polite as possible. Another two of the words that she likes to use are ‘please’ and ‘thank you.’ She is not overly polite, though. Sometimes when around adults she can get overly shy, meaning she will freeze and not know what to say. At these times it’s best to leave her alone.
---> around herdbeasts/other creatures of the sort: When around herdbeasts Zenniel adopts a calm, caring attitude. She is very gentle with these also-gentle beasts, and it seems as if she knows them more than she knows humans. She works with them carefully, teaching them (the ones not used to feed dragons) to work together and multiple other things. She has always had a special bond with these animals and so feels the best around them, as she has grown up around herdbeasts all her life.
---> general personality: When around anyone in particular, whether groups of mixed adults and children or just groups, Zenniel becomes a sort of mix of all of her characteristics. It is like she doesn’t know what to do. She becomes possibly more shy than she normally is, and polite, too. Maybe this has something to do with all of her years alone in the Weyr…
History:
Zenril felt the first pangs of labor in the afternoon. She gave birth later that night with the light of the two moons coming through the window to fall onto her body. At around midnight, a girl was born to parents Zenril and Norooth. Using the common practice of mixing the mother and father’s names, her mother named her Zenniel. The first three Turns of Zenniel’s life, her mother kept the girl close to her. Zenniel was an early, as well as fast, learner; she learned to walk before she learned to crawl, and learned to speak before her first Turn, though she wouldn’t be able to speak full sentences until later in her second Turn. The girl was always toddling around after her mother, and everyone loved her outgoing personality.
Unfortunately, that personality didn’t stick. Around her fifth Turn, the girl suddenly grew timid and shy. Before her fifth Turn, though, the girl and her parents were some of the people chosen to go back in time to the newly made Star Hold (they had been from the Igen Weyr). Since most if not all Hold children grew up together, her timid state surprised her mother. The girl began to hang out near the beastcraft hall, preferring the herdbeasts and runnerbeasts to humans. Nevertheless, the girl arrived on time for every class the children of the Hold had to partake in. And the girl learned quicker than other children of her age. But, because she was not of a higher class (such as Weyrleader, Master of a Craft), she could receive no higher education.
But the girls’ favorite subject was not a subject at all, but a pastime. The girl loved to help around the beastcraft hall. Soon, she knew more in her young age than many apprentices knew. Some said that the girl had the power to communicate with the beasts, runnerbeasts and herdbeasts especially. But, in truth, the girl spent so much time with the creatures that they instinctively trusted her. She had also learned a few basic commands in their languages that she used daily. These commands could have been a stiff body for a runnerbeast, telling the runnerbeast (horse) she did not want to play. Or a quick motion to the left with her hand, telling the runnerbeast to turn left. Also a quick motion with her right hand, meaning the opposite to the left.
The girl was only nine Turns old when Zenril, her mother, died. Zenril had been with child, and she was hoping that, after three stillbirths, she would birth a live child. The woman died in labor because she lost too much blood. The child survived for only ten minutes, and then, despite three Healers best efforts, it died. This loss devastated N’ooth and his daughter. If the girl was shy and distrusting before, she was a borderline hermit now. She spent more and more time with the runners and herdbeasts. She rarely, if ever, talked with anyone but her father. These days, she also spent more time out of the Hold. She became adept at finding things in the jungle and coves. It was there, in one of the many coves, that she discovered a wild flitter clutch.
The Gold that usually sat protectively by the clutch was not there. Similarly, neither were the Bronzes or the rest of the colors. Then she noticed flashes of bright colors at the edge of the beach. The fire-lizards were preoccupied with something that Zenniel could not see. It was taking all of their numbers to hold it back from the eggs. The girl took this opportunity to creep forward quickly from the cover of the ferns and race, doubled over, to the pile of eggs. Quicker still, Zenniel grabbed the second largest egg (the first was a golden egg, and she had no want for a Gold), and raced back to cover. Two sevendays later, after much care, Nomad hatched from the egg. Nomad was a large Bronze hatchling, and he would grow to be one of the largest Bronze flitters in the Weyr.
Believe it or not, but Nomad actually drew Zenniel out of her hermitage. With his extremely protective attitude, Zenniel felt safe wherever she went. She trained Nomad; she had to, because if she hadn’t, the flit would have reverted back to his wild, state. She took at least half a Turn to train him, using every day to her full advantage. The other half of a Turn was spent making sure he could follow every command she had taught him.
Then, at fourteen Turns, the girl began to emerge from her shell. This emergence would easily take at least six Turns, but with the Impression of a dragon, that number could easily be cut in half. The girl was vaguely aware of some plans for the creation of a new Weyr. She knew that when the Weyr was formed, there would have to be a Weyrwoman. And when there was a Weyrwoman, there would have to be a clutch. And so, inspired, Zen decided that she would try to get Searched in order to Impress a dragon. Now she is just waiting for a Queen to fly and the Search to be made.
Pets:
Name: Nomad
Species: Fire-lizard; Bronze
Appearance:
Nomad is a very strange colored Bronze. He has a brown coloring, but an undeniable bronze sheen that flows over his hide whenever he moves. The sheen is intensified in strong sunlight or moonlight.
Personality:
Nomad is extremely protective of His. He will never let anyone touch her if he thinks they’ll hurt her. Or make her sad. Or anything else that may make him feel like they’re not welcome. He doesn’t spend much time to himself, of course, but instead hovers around her like she is some sort of person who should be protected. Of course.
Name: Evenoth
Color: Blue
Appearance:
The coloring of his body is a royal blue. His color is solid throughout but he seems to shimmer in the sun at times. Evenoth has light, almost white claws. His boday is well proportioned though his wings may seem a little long if one looks at him for a lengthy amount of time. He is a large sized blue and will probably mature to be larger than many of his blue counterparts.
Personality:
Evenoth is a calm blue. He often takes his time doing things though he can be competitive when it comes down to important things. He'd rather sun than swim. Evenoth is a little shy but not so much so that it hurts him socially. It seems greens will do enough talking for two.
Color Code: 093399
History:
The other blue had taken just as much time to reach his destination and while some were focused on the other blue, this one seemed to have shocked many onlookers. He had at first scanned the boys but he knew almost instantly he wanted HER. The blonde seemed to not notice him at first but he was going to make himself known. Nudging her white robes softly, his eyes met hers for the first time. My Zenniel! He was a rather calm for a blue and nudged her again lovingly. He wasn’t bouncing off the walls like his other blue clutch mates. I am a little hungry, by the way.
