Netory sat on the table as she had been asked to do. The infirmiry was one of the most well lit places in the Weyr for good reason. The Master Healer of Nova was personally seeing to Netory's wounds. That didn't really surprise her since her parents were leaders of the Weyr. She was used to being treated differently than the other children. As he began to stitch the gash in her side, she put on a brave face but she really wanted to scream.
It hurt! Wasn't he supposed to be making her better? Netory let the tears start falling though she tried not to move. If she moved he would mess up and stitch her where she didn't need it. Her hands clenched into fists, so hard that her knuckles were white. Netory's usually rosy cheeks were pale as she tried to look at a speck on the wall in front of her. Obviously the numbweed wasn't enough to dull this sort of pain. At least he said he used numbweed. Maybe he had said that to keep her from thinking he didn't. Then again she didn't know much about healing.

Neory had come down to the Infirmary as soon as she had heard. From what Sheluth had told her, Neory was not upset at R'ko - he seemed to have responded correctly and being a weyrbrat meant that parents did not have to approve everything.
That did not keep Neory from being concerned about her daughter, however. Nor did it mean that the assurance from her beloved Gold was enough to make her feel better about her daughter's condition. No, Neory was a mother, and while being the weyrwoman might keep her from being the best mother, it did not keep her from being a good mother, and she would not settle for anything less than seeing her daughter herself, seeing that she was all right.
Her jaw tightened as she saw the tears running down her daughter's cheeks as the Master Healer sewed up the wound. She moved to her side, staying out of the way of the Healer, but not going to make her daughter face any more of this pain alone. "Hey, sweetling." She kissed her head softly, being careful not to do anything to cause Netory to jar her arm.

Netory didn't see her birth mother come in. Neory was Senior Weyrwoman and as such, Netory had not really expected to see her in the infirmiry. The little girl was staring so intently on that spot that she heard her mother after the woman had come to her non injured side. The arm on that side had been moved out of the way so he could see better but she was not to stretch it at all or it would tear the wound open more.
"Hi mother." Netory tried a small smile but kept looking foreward like she had been told. "Did R'ko tell you the story too?" She was pretty upset about not being able to fight the feline off of her. Netory wanted to be strong like her parents and her brother. She did not like being ill, injured or in any way incapacitated. Oh it was just awful and now the whole Weyr would know!

"Actually, Sheluth. But only because she knew I'd be upset if I didn't find out immediately, and I was in a meeting." She had no doubt that R'ko would have told her, while her relationship with her mate's son was a bit odd - somewhere between "step-mother" and friend, he would have told her, she was sure.
She stroked her daughter's hair, frowning slightly as she looked at the wound that the healer was stitching. She knew that it would leave a scar no matter how good a job he did of it, and she had to admit that the idea of a Feline causing such harm to her daughter angered her.
"Netory, you know that you did nothing wrong, right, sweetling?" She was a bit concerned at the note she heard in her voice.

"Trust a dragon to be a snitch..." She almost laughed but stopped herself. If she laughed that would hurt a lot and it would make her move. "The whole Weyr will know by tomorrow anyway." Netory said with a slight frown. She'd never live this down, all those other kids didn't like her anyway. Her mother, as much as she may want to reassure her, did not make it any easier. Still, Netory had enough tact to know that sometimes parents needed just as much reassuring as children did.
"I know. The felines are not used to people, I suppose. R'ko isn't in trouble is he? I ran too far ahead, its not his fault. He told me to slow down. Deshenoreth can tell Sheluth exactly how it happened." Netory knew that no dragon would dare lie to a Gold so what Desh said to Sheluth would be the truth.

"No, R'ko's not in any trouble." She smiled a bit at that, proud of how her daughter was concerned about someone other than herself even with as much pain as she knew the girl was in.
She stroked her daughter's hair, not knowing what to say to help her in this. Perhaps she could not ease the physical pain, but it also pained Neory that she could not ease the emotional pain of her daughter.

The girl was glad R'ko wasn't in trouble. Knowing him he was probably upset enough about her getting hurt during his watch. "Mother, do you think I'll be able to go back to the beach? I barely got to spend any time on it and it looked sooo beautiful. Have you been yet? I hear you can see firelizards and shipfish!"
Netory loved water and the ocean looked like it would have been fun to swim in. The Healer working on Netory, finished his work and put a salve on top of the skin that was just stitched together. His hands worked quickly to place a bandage around her.
He then went on to say, "No running, skipping, jumping, swimming, reaching for anything. I strongly discourage bending over, laughing may even hurt for a while. You are to come back here in two days for me to reexamine the wound. Is that all clear?"
"Yes, master healer. " She nodded and then slid off the table.

Neory blinked, half surprised that she would want to go back to the beach, then she grinned and nodded, "Of course, sweetling."
Before she could say anything else the Healer was giving her daughter a list of things she was not allowed to do, and it was all Neory could do not to visibly pale at that. She could not imagine how daughter not running or skipping or... well, just being a kid. And the fact that laughing could hurt her had all but caused her mother actual physical pain.
"When you're healed and the eggs have hatched, we'll go to the beach." She smiled down at her daughter, pride and love evident in her face. "Just make sure you obey the healer, ok?" She knew she'd answered that she would, but Neory was still her mother, "For now, focus on healing."

Netory watched her mother's face and smiled. "I'm going to be just fine. You heard him." The nine turn old hoped her mother was serious about going to the beach but she wouldn't press her. Her mother had a lot more responsibilty than most people. Something that Netory had been told since she was very small. She understood and her foster parents were lovely. Netory knew that this was the way of the Weyr. Having a lot of family, different kinds.
"The healers say children heal faster than adults. I'm sure it won't take too long." She grinned. Netory was a positive person and probably got that from her foster parents, who were both optimists. If she spent more time with her mother then it would be obvious that she was a lot like her too. "Do you think I could apprentice into something mother? After I'm all healed I mean. I don't want to be a drudge."
