"It is entirely too hot on this Southern Contenient." J'ren said to no one in particular. He had managed to organize the weyr he would be living in, not that there was much to organize.
Speak for yourself. This sun is wonderful.Gliath chimed in from his perch above to bowl.
His flight gear was carefuly hung from a peg, along with his boots. He'd already had a near miss, finding a rather nasty looking insect in one of them. Last time he'd leave anything on the floor.
There was a tapestry that he had been given as a gift, a bronze dragon in flight. He kept it hung over his bed. His clothes he stored in his trunk and a few scrolls on a shelf.
How did I get stuck with that Thread brained Igen rider J'var as a wingleader anyway? Gah, it almost be better to have stayed behind if I'd known this. Maybe it won't be so bad. I did make Wing Second after all, so that is something. This nice new weyr, bigger than my last one. Suppose having someone to share it with would be nice... And this is a rather ambitous project we have embarked on, of course no one will ever know about it.

Labeth was snoozing comfortably on her ledge in the sunlight when Amneris slipped out for a stroll. She wanted to see who else was in her wing, as wingmates were roomed close to one another. Her guitar was slung across her back, as she was prepared to entertain herself if no one else could be found to chat with.
As she walked past one of the larger weyr's she heard a man's voice say, "...on this Southern Continent." The tall blonde woman smiled slightly and ducked her head into the weyr. Spotting a Bronze on the ledge she knew this had to be an important person. "I think you'll find Southern quite enjoyable. Sunshine, sand, firelizards, pretty girls you've never met before." She was altogether too bold. The fact that she too preferred women would probably not cross the man's mind as she shortly after realized.
"I'm Amneris by the way. Searchrider of green Labeth and member of Altair Wing." She entered the room with a lithe grace that came from her height and riding for many turns. Smiling genuinely she indicated her guitar and said, "I was an apprentice Harper for a while too. A woman of many talents, if you will."

"Amneris, well met. I'm J'ren, and this is my bronze, Gliath." Gliath rumbled a greeting and went back to resting. He gave a smile to the green rider, glad to have company. "You're from Telgar, right?"
He stole a few glances at the younger woman while he finished stowing his clothes. "So what bring's you to my door, can't imagine I have a reputation for being very...conversant."

"Oh! I thought I recognized you... I was in Triveni wing at Telgar." Amneris grinned and nodded at the dragon. "Indeed well met and my compliments to your Gliath. Labeth is enjoying the sun as well. I can imagine he would prefer to sun than even listen to us chit chat." Amneris said without much thought as to being invited in or not. She walked over to his table and sat in a chair there. She was usually on the go but seeing as she had just walked most the rider's weyrs trying to find ones that were occupied, she thought resting her feet would be best.
"To be completely honest I was looking for people in Altair wing, so I could get to know them. Even us Searchriders fly thread with their wing. " The man didn't look too much older than Jeyna which was a good thing. He'd be experienced but not too bossy. "I can converse enough for two people, at least thats what my friends tell me." Namely Labeth and Jeyna. Not that she spoke all the time but she was rather chatty when she made new acquaintances.
She looked around his weyr and noted this definately needed some help. Did men just not care what a place looked like when they moved in? He was in desperate need of a woman, if you asked her, which no one was, so she couldn't comment. "Have you been down to the Hold yet? I hear its beautiful. I'd like to go down and explore the beaches too." For more than one reason. She'd always enjoyed the myth of firelizards and now that she had found out they existed she had her heart set on seeing one and possibly having one to keep....

He chuckled, she certainly did like to talk. "Yes, I remember. I was there when you graduated, Jeyna thought you'd make a good addition to Triveni. She came back too right? It'll be good to have dependable riders in the wing. I was made a wing second." the note of suprise was clear in his voice.
"No, I haven't been down there yet. Trying to get what I brought situated, so much to do. Place is abit sparse though isn't it?"
"I'd not say no to getting out of the Weyr for awhile, if I can get Gliath to give up his nap time." Gliath grumbled It will be nice to go and bathe in the sea

Jeyna blinked as she heard her mate's voice coming from someone else's weyr. She stopped and listened for a moment, giggling to herself at her love's flirting, especially since the other voice was male. J'ren she guessed from what she heard and the voice.
Poking her door in she chuckled, "'Neris, what are you roping the poor man into?" She smiled warmly to the younger woman and then looked to J'ren. "Good to see you, J'ren. I trust your Gliath is doing well?"

The large bronze grumbled. "Well met Jenya. Gliath says he is well, and thanks you for asking." In reality he had said more like Hello, now go away
"I trust your Ragoth is well also?" "We were just discussing the new wings, I was pleased to learn you both are in Altair."

"Wonderful then we ca..." She was cut off by the all too familiar voice of Jeyna. "I only talked him into going to visit Star Hold." The greenrider grinned mischeiviously. Amneris stood up slowly and walked over to the bluerider giving her a greeting hug. "Miss me did you?" She winked and then let go. Even if she spoke in a teasing voice, Amneris had in fact missed the bluerider.
"J'ren is our Wingsecond!" She said with enthusiasm. As far as she could remember the Bronzerider was fairly friendly to the idea of female wingriders. That might be part of the reason he was wingsecond. Perhaps they thought he could balance out the ideals of their Wingleader. Honestly, she had barely met J'var and though the rumors were not in his favor, she supposed it might be a good idea to give the man a chance to prove himself.
The tall blonde stood looking at Jeyna while saying to both, "I think a visit to Star Hold would be beneficial to the Weyr, don't you?" The greenrider could come up with reasons why, if need be. There was never a bad time to be on "search". Though the people at Star Hold would be easier to Search than anyone in the North. They had to be more secretive. It could work as a cover up for spending the day laying on a beach, soaking up rays and relaxing. Three things she very much enjoyed doing.

Jeyna smiled to the younger woman as she hugged her, "Of course I did, love." Jeyna always considered herself a happy person, but she did not believe that anyone could be as happy as her 'Neris was.
She then looked back to J'ren. "Ragoth is well, thank you. And I'm hoping that we make quite an impression in Altair." She grinned, looking back at Amneris and winking, "Show the wingleader that women can be just as good dragonriders as men."
She was a woman riding a Blue Dragon. It really could not have been a secret how she felt on the issue or that she would do what she could to rectify any prejudices that might exist, so she saw no reason to be shy about it.
"And, yes, love, I think a trip to Star Hold could be very beneficial to the weyr. I'd image that we're going to be much closer to the HOld than we ever were back at Telgar. Which means, it would be good if all of us were on good terms with the people at the Hold." She smirked, "At least, that sounds like a good theory to me."

"Your theory is sound, Jenya," J'ren nodded. "We have less of the resources to work with than we did at Telgar, we will need the Star Hold's support."
He smiled, something he hadn't done much lately, "Your wing second knows that women are just as good on fighting dragons as men, sometimes better I think." He expected Gliath to say something, but it was clear the dragon was asleep. "When I finally get to speak with our wingleader, he'll hear nothing but the best about both of you from me."
"Shall we make the trip to Star Hold then?"

With a ready smile, Amneris said, "Are we taking seperate dragons or would that cause too much of a stir?" The youngest of them looked from the Bronzerider to the bluerider and waited. She wanted to go and see the beach! The excitement was nearly killing her, who knew what awaited on the beaches of Star Hold...maybe firelizards!
The greenrider wasn't really able to hide her emotions, this could at times upset her green but now it only roused her from her nap. Labeth was not cranky but rather easy going like her rider when she woke. Beach?Oh yes. Sand, sunshine, salt water...Oh beach! I want to go! Okay sweeting.
"Labeth is just itching to go to the beach. She'd go anywhere with sunshine and sparkling water." So would Amneris, truth be told. With Jeyna there it would be that much more fun... and then there was J'ren whom they could get to know better. It always helped her to have friends with rank. It would be especially helpful with a Bronzerider from Igen as their Wingleader.

Jeyna was independent, and she could be a leader in fun and/or trouble, but she was not a natural leader when it came to organization and serious matters. So she knew full well that her reading of the situation could be far from accurate. However, from her understanding of the "mission" of both Nova and Star Hold, as well as just maps, she was pretty sure that dragons would be much more common at Star than at Nova. She shook her head, "I don't see why it would cause much of a stir. Again, I think we're going to find that the Star Holders are going to be much closer to us Riders than Holderfolk ever are. Besides, what child would not enjoy seeing the two beautiful gems of your Labeth and my Ragoth or the magnificent Bronze Gliath? I think we're ok taking all three."
Though admittedly, Jeyna would not have minded riding double with her weyrmate, she also knew that the dragons would enjoy the beach too much to leave either of them out.
She smiled to J'ren, "And that is one reason that I am particularly glad that you were assigned to this wing, J'ren. It's always good to have someone on our side." She winked to him.
You all are taking too long talking about this. Come so we can go already!
Jeyna chuckled, "And now Ragoth is complaining that we're wasting perfectly good beach time talking."

If we are going to go, then lets go now. My hide will shine nicely in this weather
"Gliath is...telling me something similar. Shall we meet down at the bowl then? I'll grab my flight gear and a change of clothes."

Amneris nodded to J'ren and winked at Jeyna. "Last one to the Bowl is buying the ale!" The greenrider went sprinting down the hallway towards her own Weyr. Although she had to keep her guitar from falling off, she was able to keep a decent pace, something that long legs were helpful with.
(OOC: If someone wants to start a Thread at Star Hold or even crash one....this might be a good place to do so )
