Children (2):
Taenori- daughter (5) , Weyrbrat by Anori – Telgar Weyr
Risalae- daughter (3), Weyrbrat by Calae– Telgar Weyr
Appearance:
Dragonriders had a reputation for being well kept and attractive. Unfortunately, T'ris was anything but well kept. He let his hair grow to his shoulders at times and even let his facial hair grow to the point where he had to be told to trim it or not fight thread. His dirty blonde locks were generally pulled back in a quick pony tail when he had to fly Thread but the rest of the time he just let it do what it willed.
As for the attractive, well beauty lies within the eye of the beholder. T'ris has managed to keep his body conditioned well though he isn't as buff as some riders. Tall enough for a rider, he stands at about 6'4" and weighs about 180 lbs. He has a ready smile that often seems to be mocking or c.ocky depending on the situation. His rugged appearance, follows his hair in that where the sun has tanned his skin there are visible lines. T'ris thinks that makes him look older, which to him isn't so bad a thing.
While one could spend days talking about his gruffness, there are some things about T'ris that are clear and concise. One of these are his eyes. The light blue almost gray eyes show emotions well and are easily one of his better features. His nose is another feature that is rather opposite of his rough outer appearance. One might even call his straight, medium sized nose pretty. It even appears that he grooms his eyebrows, although it isn't true, he simply had good genes.
T'ris doesn't waste time or energy on figuring out what to wear day in and day out. One of his sister's, Adrolie, gave him some clothes every turn as a birthing gift. He only wears them when he doesn't feel like wearing leathers. They are in common shades of grays, browns and whites. His leathers are usually dark in color and if possible he prefers to have black though the color seems harder to come by.
Personality:
T'ris isn't someone who has to work hard to make friends. It seems his nature is so welcoming and likeable that people naturally tend to want to be around him. Although he tends to be outgoing and friendly, he isn't always in the mood to make new aquaintances. In these instances he can come off as self centered or distant. Coming from a big family, T'ris is a loud person. He cannot for the life of him learn to use an inside voice when he is excited. No more can he fathom having an empty weyr.
He needs people. If ever there was a brownrider who needed constant attention it was T'ris. His dragon fully comprehends his rider's need for friends. As long as T'ris is surrounded by people, all is well with the world. He is just as happy when he has one person around him, who is spending all their time on him, for he will do the same. T'ris' orientation is bisexual. He loves women but they annoy the shards out of him in the long term. Women are better for him as simply lovers not as relationships. He is better with men in relationships for men are infinately more laid back and easier to get along with.
When it comes to all this interweyr rivalry, T'ris could care less about who is from Telgar and who is from Igen, he just wants to save the day, fight thread and have some fun. However if Telgar Weyr were to be insulted in front of him, he would defend his home Weyr with a vehemence that would suggest otherwise. T'ris has an excellent memory for geaography and for flight procedures. His thread fighting the last five Turns have made him one of the top in his turn, flying thread. This knowledge can make him a little over the top. He loves to pull manuevers that will get him in trouble because he often has the urge to do something dangerous. It is not something that many people understand. His thrill seeking has caused some problems with Wingleaders in the past, though he was in Zahra before transferring to Nova.
What T'ris wouldn't do for a well prepared meal... He loves to eat. The man could probably eat every second of the day and never gain a pound. He eats everything, vegetables, fruit, meat, tubers, bubblies. The only thing he won't drink is klah, because he had a night where he threw up and klah had been the last thing he drank. Never again could he swallow the stuff.
History:
Taeris was number eleven of thirteen children. His mother hardly had time to spare on teaching him properly so he owes most of his worldly education to his various siblings. His great grandfathers were all four dragonriders, three rode blues and one rode brown. Unfortunately neither of his grandfathers impressed, nor did his mother or father. It was assumed by most that his family wasn't capable of impressing.
As a Weyrbrat he never really thought much about making his dreams realities. He played as if he was the hero in almost every game. He wanted to swoop in and save the day, the damsel... and pretty much be a well known man, beloved by all. Sometimes dreams do start to come true before one even realizes what is happening. Taeris was a bit of a troublesome child. He was constantly surrounded by friends and looked up to as if he were older than he actually was. His parents at first found this to be amusing but then became concerned that he was so thirsty for the attention of others.
He preffered this sort of attention than that of a true friend. Why? True friends were able to see your flaws, something that Taeris very much feared people to see. He couldn't be their hero if he had flaws! In time he grew out of this mind frame but still preffered to be the center of attention. When Taeris was eight his brother, T'ro, impressed to a blue and thus ended a family superstition. This gave Taeris the idea that he too could one day impress. He cared little about the color of dragon for he would do well on any dragon so long as he impressed. When offered to join the beast hall at twelve he turned it down. The youth had decided that he wanted to be a protector of Pern.
While his heart has always been in the right place his mind has not. His love for people did not mean that he would use his intelligence to help them. He was known to be a bit of a trouble maker when young and continued to use a smart mouth on people who he thought lesser than himself. He was quick with a jest at someone else's expense. Sometimes he did feel sorry for those he was picking on but he rarely let that show. People were watching him for Faranth's sake!
He was not allowed to stand when he was fourteen, fifteen or sixteen. Taeris' knack for pissing off authority figures had an affect on the Candidate Master. When he was seventeen, the Weyrleaders intervened because they needed every Candidate they could get. It would do no good to deny the boy to stand again.
Taeris was less of a prat once he got word that all Weyrbrats of age were to be allowed to stand. The frustrations he had were now lessened and the most overwhelming sense of freedom came over him. In truth he felt like he was no longer being kept from what he most wanted. Although it would be months before he would be able stand, didn't mean the fun had to wait! He used this time to become better acquainted with other Candidates. He enjoyed a few flings before becoming Hatching Day came, though none of them ever amounted to anything more than that.
At seventeen, the young man now dressed in the customary white robes stood holding his breath as the first egg cracked open and revealed a beautiful clover green dragonet. She was a delicate little thing and while she took no more than a few seconds to find hers, two more dragons had hatched, a vibrant colored blue and a light brown. The blue was fast to find his and the Brown took only a few more seconds. T'ris. The brown said to get the boy's attention. T'ris turned his head and met the blue swirling eyes with a booming laugh he scratched the brown on his eyeridge. "His name is Nerekoth!" Now, food! It was already quite clear that the dragon loved to eat as much as his new rider did.
The pair went through Weyrling Training without difficulty. T'ris had an excellent memory for geography and positioning of stars. They only had one tiny problem, both dragon and rider were thrill seekers. They did daring stunts partly because it was fun and partly because it got them attention, even if some of it was negative. This ended with extra chores. As a Wingrider he didn't do much better and ended up on Watch Duty many times.
This didn't keep him from doing wild things in the air and impressing other riders. In fact, T'ris tended to like the attention it got him from greenriders. Nerekoth became a favorite for greenflights though it wasn't something he was always participating in. This was not the cause of T'ris' children. T'ris was always out for a good time. When he had time to seduce women or men, he did so. This is how he became a father. He was fairly normal for a dragonriding father. He visited his little girls when he made time to and gave them birthingday gifts. There was no denying their parentage, they both looked like him, the clear blue, gray eyes, and blonde hair.
He thinks they will be just fine without him around, as they all now believe him to be dead. One day a few weeks before this expedition, T'ris was practicing Betweening as part of drills. Since T'ris was rather bored with it all, he decided to change where the stars were in the sky and see what happened. He arrived at the same place only at about midnight. With wide eyes, he returned to the correct place. His wingleader demanded what had taken so long but was interrupted by Wingsecond K'dyn who took it upon himself to bring him before the Weyrleaders.
Since he had inadvertantly stumbled upon Timing it, it was no wonder that a few weeks later he was summoned to the meeting that would send him two hundred Turns into the past. Now at Nova, he is part of Procyron Wing and intends to continue to do what he did at Telgar, have fun and protect Pern!
Dragon Info:
Name: Nerekoth
Age: 7
Color: Brown
Appearance:
Nerekoth is a pale brown color that is the color of sandy soil in fallow fields (the color is often referred to as fallow). His hide is one solid color except for his scars from fighting thread these small scars are located on his tail and on his chest. His body is about average in size for a brown though perhaps a little taller than average. His features are not unusual. If they were he wouldn't be able to fly as well as he did. Nerekoth's physique is muscular though he doesn't draw attention to himself the way a Bronze would.
Personality:
Nerekoth is good at following direction and has a close bond with his rider. Like T'ris he enjoys eating but never really gains weight because they are a rather active pair. He absolutely adores green dragons. If he could be surrounded by green dragons all day, laying in the sun after a good feeding, he would be the happiest dragon on Pern. He isn't too fond of other male dragons but he does get along with them. Golds he revers to a level that he would never imagine himself good enough to fly one.
History:
Nerekoth's Hatching was a good one. He found his without difficulty and then fed. He soon found that his was perfect and knew to feed him just the right amount. He loved showing off as a Weyrling which only made him more of a show off as a Wingrider in Zahra Wing. Nerekoth likes flights, fighting thread and of course this new weyr. He cares little about the fact that they are now in the past. In fact its a point he frequently forgets.
