K'dyn had not slept well since arriving at Nova. He couldn't help but think of those he left behind. Missing the people one loved most other than one's dragon was difficult indeed. Knowing they were two hundred turns in the future and alive was almost unbearable. Unfortunately for him, he had to bear it and bear it well. His sister needed him, the Weyr needed him. His only wish was that his children and weyrmate could have come with him. Although he may have been able to bring Gwyn there was no way he could ask her to leave their children behind.
you should eat breakfast. I'm going, I'm going. Don't be pushy. You said that five minutes ago. K'dyn rolled his eyes, made sure his shoes were on well and exited his weyr. He nearly walked right into a young woman as she was walking past. "Oh, I'm very sorry..." He said and it was apparent he was a distracted man. "I wasn't looking. Are you in Procyron? " He thought she must be to be in this part of the Weyr.
"I must have left my manners with my dragon. I'm Wingsecond K'dyn of Brown Ortath. Who may I ask are you?" K'dyn was trying to be polite and hoping that she was a wingrider in his wing so he would feel less bad about almost plowing into her. "I don't suppose you've had breakfast yet?"

Jeyna always got up early to go running, and now in the South that was even more important. If she were to over sleep, then it would be far too hot to go running. Fortunately, the only time it was tempting not to get up was when Amneris woke up before Jeyna made it out of the weyr and she was lured back to bed.
This morning, she had made it out to run. She now came to the weyrhall to grab some breakfast. Seeing Jinet, she moved over to sit with her. She did not know the young Green Rider very well, but she knew that there were some difficulties sometimes for the women riders, with the fact that some of the former Igen riders were still getting used to it.
She also saw K'dyn, a good man, and she knew, probably one of the two most experienced with timing it. She kind of regretted that she and Amneris were not in his wing. Though the challenge of being in J'var's wing was something that was, in its own twisted way, exciting.
She moved over to sit with the two, "Mind if I join the two of you?"

The two of them walk into the hall and sat down, when a Jeyna walked up to them and ask if she could join them. "Oh you may join us it's alright with me Is it alright with you K'dyn?" Jinet looked up at the girl and smile "Oh by the way im Jinet what is your name?"
Jinet heard Isisth laugh a little What may I ask is so funny? Nothing Jinet, it's just i never thought you would try to make new friends. Jinet rolled her eys and ingorned what she said.

It was normal for a Weyrbrat to be everywhere in the Weyr, though obviously not at once. It was not, however, normal for this Weyrbrat to be up at the crack of dawn. Manna was more of a late riser, even if she was only five.
The bouncy little girl almost jumped into the Weyrhall, and did jump, or rather skip, to where she thought the most likely fun would be: two women and a man grouped close together. So, naturally, the curious girl skipped forward. She was hungry, of course, but she didn't much care. Instead, she was intrigued as to why they were all clustered together this early in the morning.
So, instead of announcing herself formally, Manna danced forward and said, "Hello! What go here? Sum'tin I like?"

Jinet looked at the little girl and smiled. The little girl reminded of one of the other rider she had already met. "Well who might you be and you are welcome to sit with us we are just talking." Jinet looked back at the other two siting with her "Alright I now know your names, so I guess that make tha makes us firends. It should make my dragon Isisth happy." Jinet loked form K'dyn face to Jeyna face "So where might I ask did you come for I myself came from Talgar. This question is for you too K'dyn."

"Well met Jinet." He said with a slight smile though his eyes seemed permanently sad. "As have I." Though he refused to comment on why he was lonely. "Glad to hear you are in my wing. We'll be seeing you at practice with your dragon. " He hadn't heard her say whether her dragon was green or blue and coming from Telgar she coudl ride either. Rather than insult her blue or green (though he figured her for a greenie) he merely said dragon.
"Of course you may Jeyna." He had met the bluerider before, back at Telgar though they had been in different wings there too. He was rather said that someone so jovial wasn't in his wing. Then again she was the type of rider that would be able to handle an Igen Wingleader. Hence it made sense to him she would be there. "How do you and Ragoth fare?"
Then he turned his attention back to Jinet, "I came from Telgar Weyr too. I was in Zahra Wing before coming here." Coming here was said in a way that was unfavorable to future conversations concerning leaving his life to be here. Ortath had to send a mental nudge. He needed to accept the facts. Both these women were nice and neither the least bit interested in his melancholy, self pity.
His eyebrow raised at the little girl. He was good with kids. Actually good was an understatement. For all that he might look like a big brawny man, he was very likeable as far as children were concerned, especially after raising about ten of them on a special mission back in time. "Oh, I do believe we are going to have some food here shortly, if you want some. What would you like?" He asked kindly. The tone he used with the women was completely different than the soft one he used now with the girl child.

Jeyna smiled to K'dyn, "We're both doing well, thank you. I trust you and Ortath are as well?" She did not envy the man at all. She had her lover with her - and she was not sure she could have made the sacrifice that the Brown Rider had. She also suspected it was a tender spot for her, so she did not push it.
"Nice to meet you, Jinet. I'm Jeyna, formerly of Triveni Wing at Telgar. Rider of Blue Ragoth." Even at Telgar, there were relatively few women who rode blue, and since she had long been a one woman woman, she would not be as known as she used to be, though she still had had plenty of friends, just no more bed friends. "I trust you and..." Isisth "Isisth are doing well as well?"
Jeyna smiled warmly to the little girl, watching K'dyn with her. Yeah, she would not trade places with him for anything. His sacrifice was more than anyone should have been asked to make. That, and Jeyna was so not the motherly type. Fortunately, there was no way she could end up with an unwanted pregnancy.

Jinet looked at her and smiled 'well Isisth and I are doing well. I came form telgar and in case you were wondering K'dyn she is a green. but yeah I don't miss is to much I really like it here so I have been rather well." She watched K'dyn interact with the little girl "so anyone know what there is to do around here, I haven't found anything yet?"

"I'm as good as can be expected." Which was another way of saying not well but he didn't want anyone to worry. "Of course, Ortath is enjoying the weather here. He much prefers this to Telgar. Although we are going through more salve here." Not everyone knew the predicament they ahd been in many turns ago where, Ortath had become allergic to the oil they used on dragon hides. Dragonhealer Daevon had helped to create a salve for the the dragon's hide instead.
It worked well and in return, Ortath had allowed dragonhealers to study his hide from apprentice level to Master. He was the only dragon recorded to have this particular issue though he didn't find it as a source of pride but rather a weakness. K'dyn felt similairly on the subject. Considering his company he explained, "Ortath is allergic to oiling so he gets a special salve instead."
"I suspect most everyone is still getting used to the surroundings here though I've heard many people have been going to see the lovely beaches here." That wasn't necessarily a good place to meet people though. "I've always found there to be at least one game of dragon poker to be going on at night. As for day time... if we aren't keeping you busy enough..." K'dyn winked. "We could always have more drills!"

The little girl grew bored with all the adult talk. In fact, she didn't know what the big people were talking about anyways. So she ranged over thier faces. The one with the blue shoulder knots - wasn't that supposed to mean she was a bluerider? - was the prettiest. Manna marveled at her, staring, which was quite rude, but she didn't care. Then her gaze shifted to the other female. She wasn't as pretty as the bluerider, nope! Manna liked the bluerider bestest. But the other one... she was nice-looking too. And her dragon was a green - judging by the green shoudler knots. Manna liked green dragons, and wished she could have a green dragon some day (now! Wouldn't that be so cool if she could have a dragon to pet and play with now? Daddy's Brennanth wasn't much fun, 'cause he was too big to pet). Manna sighed, knowing that it was too early for her to be thinking about Impressing dragons.
The man she thought was pretty - no, had-ne-some was the word - but not as had-ne-some as her Daddy. And his Brown was smaller than Daddy's Brown. Manna giggled. Brennanth was heee-uuuu-ge! Manna jumped up in glee, "I know'd your dragons!" She squealed, her voice high-pitched like all young kid's voices were. "You got's pretty color'd dragons! But my Daddy's dragon, he's da bestest!" Laughing shrilly, Manna said, "My Daddy's Brennanth, he's so huge I can't even hug his leg! But I lov'im anyway!"
Yeah, Manna had just interrupted a conversation. Would you expect a five-Turn-old to do less?

Jeyna chuckled, "And my weyrmate can sometimes be convinced to give a concert or provide music for an impromptu dance. I prefer it when we can grab a Harper to join her, so that she can dance some too." Though as far as Jeyna was concerned, they never played as well as her lovely Green Rider, but she'd put up with the inferior music if it allowed her to dance with Amneris.
She smiled to K'dyn, "And I know what you mean about the dragons enjoying this sun. Thankfully, we have enough drills to keep them from becoming too lazy and comfortable." She winked.
When the little one started speaking, Jeyna turned and smiled to her. The Blue Rider liked children. She had no interest in having her own, but she could enjoy children from time to time. She was a good aunt figure, though she knew she'd make a horrible mother figure.
She would not contradict a child that her father's dragon was the "bestest." As a kid, she should think that. Of course, Jeyna happened to think that Ragoth was the best. "He is, huh? I bet you're a good helper, helping your father to wash and oil Brennanth?"

Jinet looked at the little girl and smiled "I would have toagre with Jeyna you must be a very good helper, scine it seems you love your father's dragon so much" Jinet looked back to K'dyn "so when is are next drill?" She let her mind wander a bit as she found her self thinking about Manna's father and what was going on between and if B'oone had told her yet.

K'dyn realizing that the little girl had ignored what he had said moved back into conversation with the women. "I'm not sure if I've met your weyrmate but any entertainment here would probably be welcome." The brownrider was not sure how many Harpers they had been able to take. They were a rather talkative bunch of people and rumors of a mission like this would be a horrible thing.
He took a pause before adding, "I'm more concerned about some of the riders becoming lazy and comfortable. I for one will not forget why we are here. The mission is to become strong enough to support Telgar and Igen in their hour of need, not to laze about on a Beach enjoying the sunny weather every day as if we had no cares at all."
He was serious but none of this was directed at anyone. K'dyn knew Jeyna to be hard at work and probably more as she was a Searchrider. The young greenrider was obviously not lazy or she wouldn't even bother worrying about drills. He chuckled lightly, "No, Jinet, no drills right now. R'net will announce it to you when it is time. That doesn't mean we are safe, he's been known to pull out surprise drills whenever he has the urge."
K'dyn could not comment on what the little girl had said. As much as he wanted to say that he understood, no words could come to his lips. As Weyr standards go he was a good father and now he was never going to see his children again.
