(this thread is merely to give everyone an idea of what Laszreen is doing during the flight and what goes through her mind)
Elfreth woke in a bad mood , bad enough that Laszreen could guess what was going to happen. She left no word as to where she was going but for the next few candlemarks she needed to be far from here. As always, Laszreen was prepared. She called down the kitchen shaft to have food packed for her and brought up to her weyr. Her leathers wouldn't be necessary she would wear a comfortable pair of loose pants and a warm sweater for flying, under which would be a light shirt.
Her Gold's mood grew increasingly worse. Elfreth was a very jealous dragon, even when Saharth flew, Elfreth had to be away after her first turn and a half of life. It shouldn't suprise anyone seeing as Laszreen herself could be jealous. The personal drudge who was attending her at the moment made certain that her brown curls were pulled back in two french braids that framed her oval face. In her eyes shown the dissappointment, fear, jealousy and anger at being second again. Elfreth was not to blame.
As she thought solemnly to herself a drudge had come from the kitchens to hand he rher food personally. Her personal drudge packed in her riding bags as Laszreen began to strap the pale Gold for riding.
"I know it is not my place to ask my lady but where are you going?"
"Elfreth and I must leave. You will see why soon enough. That should be all you need to know."
"What if Bronzerider J'var should come to find you?"
"That would be double the failures in one day. I should think he won't have a thought for me till tomorrow. Anyway, he may have Ionuth contact Elfreth if he has need." Laszreen spoke with a coldness that made the other women in the room shiver. If she had no emotion she couldn't be hurt or jealous. she was still dissapointed but this could not be helped.
With a very heavy spirit she mounted Elfreth and left Nova Weyr. There was a cave along a northern beach under Star Hold territory that Laszreen had been told of by a delinquent rider. That would be a good enough place to stay for now. SHe would return tomorrow or sooner depending on the flight's winner.
When they arrived Elfreth laid out on the edge of the cave, sunning. Her tail twitched every so often in annoyance but the Gold was not nearly as agitated as before. They couldn't let there be a Gold fight when the Golds were needed to reproduce. Laszreen was letting herself deal with the facts. Whoever won, made little difference to her except if J'var should win. That would make a difference if only because it would increse Igen's hold over the new Weyr.
You will be angry for other reasons. Its right there at the top of your thoughts. You are practically broadcasting it for me...I don't think I'll ever be able to share well with others my darling. You shouldn't have to, it makes you upset which irritates me. Oh but you mustn't be angry my Golden love, we have to be careful of how we tread around the new Weyrwoman. We have to support her, the Weyr and of course our own causes. J'var is nothing to that. He is something. The Gold countered, equally as jealous of her rider's other love as the fact that he wanted more than just her rider. In a few days the dragon will have forgotten but her rider would never forget this feeling.
Laszreen looked out at the cerulean waves and the white beaches while her heart dealt with issues that she couldn't understand. Her nature had not allowed her to grow as attached to people as she had allowed herself to with J'var. She had even had a detached relationship with her children. Laszreen thought about them briefly and then about the real reasons she was sent here. She didn't like being pregnant and really wasn't sure she wanted anymore children, however if she were to become so, she knew the value of life. Even without plagues and threadfall, she had known death in her early turns so she understood what a life was worth.
