Appearance:
B'oone has short-clipped brown hair. For no reason in particular, B'oone likes to spike his hair with a sort of gel. He won't tell if the gel is his creation or not, or how he even got it. Unfortunately, only the front of his hair is long enough to spike, and so only the front has any spikes to speak of. His hair is a dark brown with lighter brown sprinkled here and there from his long hours in the sun.
B'oone's eyes are brown, an ordinary color. Even if one looks closer, the only colors he or she can discern is a lighter brown and a darker ring of brown on the outside. B'oone has a roughly angular face, and he doesn't normally shave every day, so every other day he has stubble. A lopsided smile usually adorns his face, making him likable, if not handsome.
At 6'2", B'oone is at a likable height. He is taller than some men, and most women, but not too tall to be called a giant. He is a well-muscled man, but he does not necessarily like to boast. He would much rather show off some other way. As a result, unless forced to wear tighter clothing, B'oone wears loose-fitting clothing.
Personality:
B'oone is a trickster, even at this age of his life. He loves making jokes, even if most of them aren't oral. Even if Brennanth doesn't like the jokes-and frankly, the dragon doesn't get them-, B'oone keepts at it. He loves the pranks he plays, bu he doesn't like it when anyone gets hurt. For that matter, he likes playing harmless jokes, the ones that scare or make a person smile.
In his more lucid moments (lucid meaning not trying to play jokes on anyone), B'oone acts smartly. In fact, he is a rather smart guy. Because he is a dragonrider, he has been able to learn things that only children of the richest people on Pern (and Weyrbrats) learn. He is quick to use his intelligence in his pranks. Some people believe that, instead of using his smarts for jokes, he could instead be a great Wingleader, even Weyrleader. He, on the other hand, believes that he would not be good in a leadership position. He rather likes following orders, and giving those orders to his followers (if any). He is not, however, always a follower. In fact, B'oone enjoys giving orders to subordinates, though only occasionally. He would much rather have fun and play pranks or make jokes than anything else.
B'oone is a handsome guy (but he doesn't think so), so it's normal for women (and some men) to ogle over him. For the most part he ignores them, both men and women, but especially the men - he is heterosexual. He ignores women who openly express lust for him. Even if Brennanth catches a Green, and the Green's rider is male, he will have no relationship except for that one night in bed. However, if it is a femalerider, he will attempt to have a relationship with her.
B'oone may not act like a father-type person, but he changes his personality around Manna, his adoptive daughter. He treats her like the child he never had. He cares for her like he cared for his twin brother and little sister. He spoils her to a certain extent, and Brennanth does the rest. Because she is a Weyrbrat, she also has a caretaker/moher, but B'oone never liked her, and so never really lets her go with the woman. To him, she is his own daughter.
History:
Baroone, as he was named at birth, had a fairly uneventful birth and first two Turns of life. Manoon, his mother, was surprised when she found out Baroone had a brother barely a Turn later: Maroone. Baroone, though he was older, was the smaller child while Maroone was larger. The two stayed that way until Baroone turned fifteen, when Baroone quickly grew taller.
Two Turns after Baroone's birth, and one after Maroone's, Manoon fell pregnant again. After nine months, the boys had a sister, Manna. The three where close friends, as they grew up close together. Every thing one of them did, the others wanted to do. Consequently, when Manna, always trying to show up her brothers, wanted to jump off a high ledge onto the bare ground, so did her brothers. Maroone broke his leg. Baroone only got a couple of superficial bruises, and Manna only got her emotions hurt: she'd made her brother break his leg.
Having grown up in the Weyr, the three children were prime candidates for a Hatching. When he was sixteen, his brother fifteen, and his sister fourteen, the trio stood for Impression. Maroone wished for a Bronze like the kids' father, B'nor of Bronze Tarneth, but Baroone, knowing he would never be a good leader, wanted a lower color, possibly a Blue. Maroone Impressed, becoming M'oone. His dragon, Brown Zorkath, did something terribly wrong though, something that M'oone had never recovered from. Zorkath trampled, and consequently snapped the neck of, Manna, who was standing to try to Impress any dragon. Near the end of the Hatching, Baroone, who had been distraught by his sister's death, was startled to find a small voice saying:
Mine, I am sorry for your loss, but I am hungry. Can you feed me?
So Baroone was now B'oone, and he had Impressed his best and dearest friend, Brennanth. Furthermore, Brennanth was the largest Brown Hatchling (and he was to be one of the largest Browns) for Turns, while Zorkath was the smallest Brown of the clutch. Only after M'oone 'married' Bree did he forgive his dragon and himself for the death of his sister. He was immediately relieved when Bree fell pregnant and (later) had a child. The child was female, and M'oone had the perfect idea. M'oone would name his child after his lost sister, thus let the memory lie. M'oone welcomed little Manna into the World.
Four Turns later M'oone and B'oone were both fighting Thread when Zorkath caught a large ball of Thread in the breast, and the remnant of the Thread hit M'oone in the eye. M'oone was instantly killed (the Thread made its way behind the eye and into the brain before Zorkath went between), and Zorkath went between forever. To make matters worse, Bree died in a mating Flight nearly a Turn earlier. M'oone and Bree had only one survivor, little Manna.
Manna was an orphan now, so B'oone decided to take the girl as his own. Consequently, around that time the leaders were thinking about sending B'oone and the little girl to the past. B'oone, even if had had no choice but to go back, was excited to go. He would have much rather gone than stayed. After the many memories he had here, he would have much rather gone. Then, after going between, the group of Riders (and other people and whatnot) arrived at their new home. B'oone, determined to forget about the past...future... forced himself to remain happy and aloof. He realized quite quickly that if he was happy, he forgot the future, his past. He had left his old life behind, so now was the time to start over.
Soon his forced happiness was no longer forced. He began to love his life in Nova Weyr. He and his adopted daughter, Manna, have lived there ever since.
Dragon Info:
Name: Brennanth
Age: 21 Turns
Color: Brown
Appearance:
One of the largest Browns to date at 35 meters, Brennanth could be called a small Bronze if it weren't for his coloring. He is a light brown color everywhere except for his delicate wing membranes and his underbelly, both of which are an unusual darker brown coloring. His underbelly is not all the darker brown, however. Instead, lines of lighter brown can be seen at random intervals across his stomach, as if the darker brown was erased. This coloring has been seen in many predators, but his is reversed. He has longer-than-usual wings, helping in flight. With these wings he is just a little bit more acrobatically inclined in the air.
Personality:
Brennanth, if at all possible, could be the exact opposite of his rider. He is the sort of fellow that does not get jokes, even if the answers are obvious (or said). Instead, he will try to find out the answers scientifically, or in the very least abstractly. In his mind, any jokes he is asked are not jokes, but rather problems just waiting to be worked out.
For example, if you ask Brennanth the ever popular question, "If a tree falls in a forest, but no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?" Brennanth will, of course, want to experiment. The question is rhetorical, the answer being yes, but Brennanth would need to find ways to make sure that the answer was really yes. Of course Brennanth could not do the experiment, seeing as he couldn't be there when the tree fell, but he would try until B'oone told him to stop.
Despite his apparent personality, Brennanth is a 'fun-loving' dragon. Of course, 'fun-loving' isn't the sort of thing you were thinking about, now was it? He would much rather train or work than sun in his Weyr, but he thinks working is 'fun.' Fighting Thread is also much better than any kind of work. Sure, he has an undying need to flame the horrible mycorrhizoid spore, but he sees Thread as a game. Every slanting clump of Thread is an equation, every clump of Thread is a group of equations, a function of sorts. This he can do for every falling thing, such as rain, snow, and even Queens in Flight. This is why he rarely ever Flies.
Even if dragons have short memory spans (they are of here and now), Brennanth retains most of this knowledge. Maybe it is just his thinking, but more probably is the fact that he retained this knowledge because of his rider. More than once a day does B'oone play jokes, and at those times Brennanth has to use his brain (though he really doesn't need to). Since most of the jokes consist of the same base ("What do you..." "Why did he/she/it..." ect), Brennanth is forced to remember the equation that he used for the last joke.
History:
From the very beginning, Brennanth knew this man, then a boy, was to be His. He knew that B'oone was going to love him and he B'oone, and that they would forever be inseparable. And when he saw His despairing, he hurriedly went to comfort him. Mine, I am sorry for your loss, but I am hungry. Can you feed me? He knew only one thing, that the loss was not caused by him, and that he was hungry.
The boy and he grew over many Turns. Together they became a funny pair (though Brennanth could never tell why), and Brennanth liked to think that even the Weyrleader liked them. Then Brennanth picked up some talk about a new Weyr, a Weyr that was going to be made back in time. This was after M'oone's death, which Brennanth had shared in mourning with the other dragons but had quickly forgotten (as all dragons do). Brennanth told B'oone before the Weyrleaders told him. B'oone agreed and... almost a Turn/ couple Turns later here they are!
