Family: from a large family, his parents as well as uncles and aunts are all fishcrafters
Appearance:
Corin is about 5'8", 120 lbs. Much of his apperance is owed to a life spent living on the island. He has a thin, fit build from years of swimming. His skin has grown very tanned while his brown hair has lightened and become sun-bleached. He also puts off getting it cut usually, so it has grown shoulder length, long and wavy. His brown eyes are like the color of sand of his home island, flecked with light spots.
Personality:
Corin is all action and energy, like a rubber ball in a sphere. One minute he can be laid back relaxing, casualy strumming a guitar or reading a scroll. The next he is bouncing around excitedly and running across the Weyr bowl just because he can.
He tends to start something and then stand back to see if he likes it, then might completely start over. It's not that he is a perfectionist, he just knows what he wants and if it isn't right he will make it right.
What no one sees is how much actual thought goes into what he does. Most people are sure there is none at all. In reality he has been thinking about it for hours or even days, and suddenly found a reason to do it.
Even some of his less thought out plans come out right. Corin has a great confidence in himself and a certain faith in the way of the world, that everything will be alright.
History:
Corin is originally from Ista, born a few turns before his parents were chosen to travel back and settle Southern. Now he lives one of the small islands on the coast of the Southern Contenient. The village of the island survives mainly on fishing and travels back and forth to Star Hold to sale its wares.
Aside from their fishing, he comes from a family that could be described as "beach-bums". Very laid back and easy going. They spend all their free time swimming, sleeping in the heat of the day, and playing music late into the night. Work to survive, play to live is their motto.
In one such case of "playing to live" he was on a small boat when a storm kicked up and sent the little boat tipping all about. He caught one of the massive storm surge waves and rode it into the beach, ending up on the top of a tree. Surge became a fitting nickname, both for his escapade and the sudden bursts of energy that he was prone to.
He had begun training with the island's Harper, learning to play the drum, pipes, and guitar. He also reads and writes well.
Now that he has been searched as a possible dragon rider, he wants to be the best he can be. And having a dragon will mean he can travel back and forth to the sea.
Pets:
Not exactly "pets" but he has two favorite shipfish that always follow his parents boat, he calls them Twitter and Phlip
