Gliath announced his arrival over Star Hold with a long clear note of joy. After a few lazy circles he dropped down onto the stones of the courtyard. He raised his foreleg and allowed J'ren to climb out on it and lower him to the courtyard. J'ren waved and Gliath lifted off and went to bathe in the nearby ocean.
J'ren pulled of his riding mask and goggles and began pulling off his flight jacket. The gear was a necessity for flying, even when not going between, the air being thinner and colder so high up.
He ducked behind a stack of barrels to change into light weight clothing; linen pants and a shirt with a shoulder knot that indicated his dragon and wing rank. He took up a shady spot to wait for the others to join him

Labeth circled above but not without showing off a little first. She dove and twisted up just for the feel of the air sweeping past her wedge shaped face. Her eyes whirled a deep blue as the olive green dragon landed with the agility expected of her color. Amneris herself was laughing as they landed. The blonde remembered to bring her looser and more beach feeling clothes with her. The fact that she had more than one outfit might suggest that even before coming to Southern she had managed to find time to go to the beach. Hey, Searchriding had its perks!
Dismounting from Labeth she pulled the small sack filled with her clothing off the leather straps. The dragon lifted from the courtyard not feet from her rider and then flew to join Gliath. The rider couldn't help but admire her own dragon. So beautiful. Amneris shook her head and looked over to where J'ren was changing. He was covered but it was rather funny to think that he had anything to hide. She would change right there in the open but she doubted that J'ren or any unsuspecting Holders would appreciate that.
"I'll just be over here...last one to get into the ocean is a rotten egg!" Amneris proceeded to change behind a stoney wall. Even if someone saw her, she would find it more amusing than embarrassing. The greenrider slipped out of the leathers as well as anyone could. The flaming things would stick to the skin in warm weather like this and after fighting thread, well that was just misery. Not only were you sore, wounded and exhausted but there was no way you could get leathers off without help.
She managed just fine this day though and had no trouble at all with her change of clothes. The shirt was an off white, loose peasant tunic. Her navy blue pants had loose legs but were tight enough up top to cling well to her thin frame. As for her feet, Amneris had chosen to go barefoot, which suited her perfectly.

Ragoth was becoming a slightly older dragon, though the proud Blue would not admit to it. Oh, he showed off a bit too, Jeyna having strapped herself in to allow the Blue a bit of freedom, laughing as the Blue rolled a couple of times, though for the most part, he contented himself with watching Labeth.
Land, so I can enjoy the view too, dear one.
You are not enjoying it now?
I am, but I'm not interested in being a "rotten egg." Land.
Eyes whirring with amusement, the Blue landed, and Jeyna deftly unstrapped herself from the Blue's back. "Go sun. Have fun."
She smirked as she jumped down with her own bag.
The Rider smirked as she went with Amneris to get changed, reminding herself that since they were not alone, she should behave. Besides, while Star Hold might be more understanding of the different lifestyles at the weyr than the other holds, and while Jeyna did not mind being shockingly herself, she did not want to traumatice any of the Holdbred. So instead, she changed, sending flirting glances over to her lover as she stripped, kind of sad that Amneris did not help getting out of her leathers, even as she easily stripped out of her own.
The runner wore a tight fitting top, though it came all the way to her waist, blue in color to match Ragoth's hide (she rode a blue, and her lover was a Harper apprentice, so she decided that qualified her for the color!) - taking into consideration the the sensibilities of hold life, and a very snug pair of black pants.
She grinned over to Amneris, once they were both dressed, "Race ya." She knew that could be unfair, but her love was tall and long-legged, and Jeyna did more long distance running than sprinting anyway, besides, Amneris was significantly younger.

J'ren walked down to the beach and over to join Amneris and Jenya. He closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. The smell of the air, and the sound of the water, waves splashing on the beach. Even with closed eyes he could tell that this was a beautiful place. 'I could never imagine such a place, not even in my dreams.' Gliath rumbled back, This will be a nice change from Telgar. Those mountains will always be home, but this is a nice place to live for awhile
He opened his eyes and breathed out slowly, he saw the women taking off at a run for the water. "We'll see who is a rotten egg..." He kicked of his shoes and took off barefooted across the sands. Jenya was a born runner, and Amneris was long legged, but so was J'ren.

Amneris watched Jeyna after she had finished dressing herself. She had as much self control as the bluerider, even if she secretly wished she didn’t. To pretend she wasn’t watching would be the modest thing to do. Neither of them was particularly modest though. Amneris wanted to watch and Jeyna would like that she was watching. Oh the women of the Weyr were missing out but Amneris no longer shared her lover with anyone. This made her happier than she would ever let on. She had never asked Jeyna to be monogamous and neither had Jeyna asked it of her. The pair had simply come to the realization that they didn’t want anyone else.
“oh, I don’t know. You are so much faster than I am…” As she finished she took off toward the beach. “Whooo!!!” She sprinted as fast as her long legs could carry her but it seemed J’ren had taken the hint and was already gaining on her. "Come on Jeyna, you don’t want to be a rotten egg do you? I hear they smell bad.” She was joking about the whole thing but it would be enough to keep any of them from giving up. Dragonriders were the most in shape people she knew. They had to be.
Amneris may have long legs but she was running against a more experienced runner and a man. She was determined not to be last but Jeyna was either already next to her or gaining. Neris wouldn’t look behind or to her side to check. She had to at least try to beat them, against the odds.

Jeyna only wasted a second in chuckling before taking off after her lover. She grinned as she saw that J'ren was also racing toward the beach. Against her lover, she did not feel much in the way of competitiveness, but against the Bronzer... well, the former runner turned Rider's easy stride turned into something a bit more intentional, her stride lengthening even as her speed increased.
She caught up to Amneris and then decided to pace herself with the other woman, not at all out of pity, but because she enjoyed running beside her.
J'ren was catching up to them, but Jeyna, at least for the moment being, was all right with that.
"If I'm going to stink, love, so are you. I'd hate for you to not want to sleep in our weyr tonight, after all." She winked over to her, not breaking stride as she did so.

J'ren felt the soft sand going under his feet, making it harder to run. But there was no way he was going to be last. He poured on speed, and caught up with Amneris.
"Not giving up..are you?" He breathed and took another long stride, a few lengths behind Jenya.
You can win, you are my rider.

Amneris wasn't giving up but she wasn't one who truly enjoyed running. Nor was Amneris all that competitive. Both Jeyna and J'ren rode male dragons who tended to be more competitive. Not that female dragons didn't get jealous but Labeth wouldn't dream of competing for a male dragon's attentions. She should never need to.
Amneris tried to pick up the pace, though even keeping up with Jeyna was a bit much for her. Amneris let out a long laugh at Jeyna's comment. "No, you are right, that wouldn't do at all. So we better beat J'ren."
By the time J'ren had caught up with them Amneris was breathing heavily. Ugh, she wasn't feeling like running, it was soooooo hot. The water was closer and closer with each stride. This race was going to be a close one though she had no doubt she would be last, despite her long legs. "I never give up on the things I want."

Jeyna smirked. She'd been running from a very early age, there was no way she was going to let the Bronzer beat her. However, she also could hear that the running was not quite so easy for Amneris. Weighing the two values, she made a relatively easy decision and slowed down enough to catch up Amneris in her arms with a wink.
Amneris was not particularly heavy, though because of muscle she weighed more than she looked, and since she was taller than Jeyna, Jeyna was not able to carry her far despite her own strength, but the water was only a couple of steps away.
Of course carrying Amneris slowed her down some, but that was a sacrifice she was willing to make - besides J'ren could hardly claim a resounding victory empty handed. She hit the water and took a couple of extra steps so that the water was to her waist when she set Amneris down with a grin.
"There we go... I have to admit, the water feels good..."

J'ren stopped at the water's edge with Jenya just a few strides behind. The fact that she was carring Amneris made it not really much of a win, "Call it a tie?" she did have a small head start.
J'ren rolled up the legs of his pants up to his knees and walked out into the water. The feel of sand squishing between his toes was something totally new. And the waters were warm and clear. "You are right about the water, this is very nice."
He stretched and folded his hands behind his head

Amneris kept running along until all of a sudden she had been swooped up into Jeyna's capable arms. Amneris laughed and whooped as she watched their last run to the ocean as a spectator not a runner. Jeyna continued to run into the water, which was up to her waist and a slight bit lower down on Amneris. "Oh indeed it does." She said as she was now on her own two feet.
"I would have lost but since someone didn't want a rotten egg in her bed, we'll all call it a tie." Amneris giggled again and threw her arms around Jeyna in a warm hug. "Thank you, my wonderful, strong lover." She whispered in her ear and then let go. With a look over at their new friend, Amneris said. "So how about we all try some wave catching?"
Wave catching was what she called it. Whether it had a real term or not she was not certain of. Pretty much she meant body surfing, it was fun though one could end up with some very sandy swim wear and sand burns if one wasn't careful.

Jeyna grinned, "Mmm... yes, I much prefer a beautiful songstress in my bed." She kissed her lover softly as she hugged her and thanked her for the last few feet. "Anytime, my love. Anytime."
When Amneris pulled from her arms Jeyna chuckled, "And yes, I believe a tie is a fair solution." She knew full well that she could have defeated J'ren, but she did not want to leave her beloved greenrider behind, and she knew that running was no more her lover's forte than singing was her own. Well, actually Amneris was better at running than Jeyna was at singing.
"Sounds like fun." She grinned over to the two of them. "Let's do this." She turned slightly to watch for the waves.
