Neory was well aware of the tension between her and the leaders from Igen. Eventually, she hoped that they'd be able to work together, that leadership could be something that was shared, that there were no power struggles that could cause damage to the entire Weyr. However, Neory was enough of a realist to know that that was not yet the case.
She hoped that it would be Sheluth who flew first. She did not feel confident in Laszreen, though she knew that that could very well be her own bias.
Her hair was lightly tied back as she worked at the desk in the weyr she shared with her weyrmate. After a moment, she sighed and looked over to the man she loved, "Can we talk? It's nothing bad, just before the first Gold rises, there are somethings I think you and I need to talk about."

Written work was often just an excuse for R'net to be around his Weyrmate. His second(not K'dyn, the other one) could easily be given most of the work, as they had less Riders than their last Wing, and to be honest, their was a lot less work for Riders in general at this Wing. As ready for Threadfall as they all were, it was almost more stressful to be doing nothing. Perhaps, R'net mused, he could issue a workout that lasted longer, and helped build the Weyr. It wasn't as if Rider's were a weak lot.
"What issues do you wish to cover?" R'net asked, still puzzling over how to approach the Headwoman who seemed to have a slight irrational dislike of him and Neory, and convince her that he wasn't trying to take over the Lower Caverns, and get her to take his riders.
"Nothing too important I hope."

She shook her head, "Important, but not necessarily bad." She turned to face him fully, "First, let me say that I don't want to worry about your answer hurting my feelings." She smiled a bit, knowing that they had both originally thought that this would indeed be their chance, but with Igen involved, that was now less than certain.
"I was wondering what you planned to do if Elfreth rises before Sheluth." Even as she stated the question, she knew that she herself was torn as to what she wanted his answer to be.
If his Torenth flew Elfreth, then there would be at least one leader she could fully trust, and she had no concern that that flight would lead to any permanent relationships, the Igen couple were as mated as she and R'net were. It would probably make things tense, but there could be a bit of power sharing that way, perhaps.
At the same time, she felt Sheluth's own ire at the thought of "her Bronze" catching another Gold. Torenth flying Greens was one thing, but another Gold angered her own Gold. And Neory would be lying if she claimed that she did more than tolerate Torenth's occassional flights after Greens, she could not convince herself that she would be as ok with him flying Elfreth and R'net lying with Laszreen as she knew she should be.

"In answer to that question, I have to ask you to understand me and Tor." R'net said quietly. "I don't think Torenth could be asked not to fly. In fact, I think that this, despite who rises first, will be a problem unless Elfreth is very regular. Tor likes to Fly, and I think I would have to remove him before hand to keep him from chasing. If Elfreth flies with little warning signs beforehand, their will be issues."
R'net shrugged, as if to say that he was sorry, but could not see any way around it.
"As for Sheluth, if she is caught by someone else, it will not effect us unless you want it to."

Neory smiled and nodded. "Good. I want Torenth to try his best if Elfreth rises first... Well, want is probably the wrong word. Neither Sheluth or I like the idea. But I think you'd be a better leader than J'var. Sheluth and I will deal with whatever regret there is from that."
She stood and moved over to her Weyrmate and gently wrapped her arms around him. "No, it won't affect us, dear. And I seriously doubt Sheluth would choose anyone other than Torenth. She hasn't yet. And neither have I."
"As for future flights, we can worry about that later. I do believe that you're the best choice of all the Bronzers we have to be Weyrleader, which means I do want you to try for every leadership flight there is, whether it's Sheluth or Elfreth."
She had not been entirely sure how he would answer, and while she would have liked the ego stroking of him assuring her that they would fight nature and not chase Elfreth, she was relieved that she did not have to convince him to try. "And hopefully all this is moot, anyway."

"It should be." R'net said with a grim grin. Life would be easier on everyone if the two very competent, majority leaders were given the highest status, and Laszreen and J'var bought off somehow.
"Other points we should think about: are the Igen riders respecting you? Are they messing with our females riders? Are you going to allow women to Impress?"
R'net threw out several questions in a short amount of time, rather happy for an excuse to distract himself from a thought that he didn't like. Greenrider's were one thing, Queenrider's another. Besides, all of his questions were based in reality.
Leaning back into Neory arms, he smiled, and looked into her eyes. Sometimes, it was easy to forget that he was this much older than her, and just think about how well they worked together.

Neory chuckled, "I'm surprised you even have to ask that last question, love." She kissed the top of his head, "You know full well how I feel about women on Fighting Dragons, and we're secluded enough that I don't think allowing it will change our own... past?" She snorted and shook her head, sometimes trying to figure out how the time line worked in concert with what they were doing was rather confusing. "All Candidates who are suitable will stand, regardless of gender. At least for Sheluth's clutches, and I will not bend on that one even if Elfreth flies first, not after having one that battle with Elisha."
"And so far, I've not received any disrespect from anyone. After all, I still ride gold, and should any Rider give me grief, Sheluth can always order their dragon to have them stop." She smirked, though going through the dragons would be her last resort. "The Headwoman though..." She sighed and shook her head, "Perhaps we should have chosen better, there, but I had not expected such... bitterness from her."
"And I've not heard anything from our female Riders. I'm sure Amneris would tell me if she or Jeyna were getting grief. I would hope that Joylie also knows that she can come to me, but she's so fresh out of weyrlinghood, that she'd probably put up with more than she should. I'll have Sheluth check with Rhelanth."
She dropped a kiss on his lips when he leaned back, looking up at her. "Have you heard anything that should concern us?"

"What's wrong with the Headwoman?" R'net asked. Yes, the woman was a tad touchy about Dragonriders, but failed candidates often were. He was careful to keep from stepping into her realm of power, but other than that, he hadn't noticed anything off.
"And I'm make sure Tor checks in with Joylie's as well." R'net nodded, thinking that was sensible. He made a mental check on that, then dismissed it from his mind for a little while.
When Neory asked her next question, R'net closed his eyes, and mentally double checked the last week or so, since they'd last discussed this topic.
"Nothing too troubling." He said after a moment of silent reflection. "There was almost a fight with J'var and one of the former Telgar Wingriders, but I don't think it lead to anything more than a little foolishness on the part of the Wingrider. That betting business needs to be stopped, but so far, I haven't thought of a good way to go about it. It's good for morale to a certain point, to encourage inter-weyr betting, but maybe not on this topic."
