Ili studied the small, rather brave candidate, who, the older boy had a feeling would be shoveling food into his mouth had good manners not prevented him. With a soft chuckle, the older boy ruffled Dakian's hair, and nodded.
"Sure. When you're done with you dinner, actual done, we'll go. What kind of dragons have you seen so far?"
Filipek took another disinterested bite of his food. Bleh. It lacked the spice of Igen food, and spices weren't exactly on top list of things the new Weyr needed, unfortunately.
"So, where are you from?"

Filipek might not be impressed by the food, but Dakian was. Sure, it was not the best food that he had ever had - his father was a master smith, so on special occasions they were able to get really good food. However, most of the time, the food was rather normal and meat was not always a part of it. So the reassurance that he could go with the older boy and that he would wait for him to eat, had the boy tucking into the food with quite a bit of abandon.
"Um, the Green that Searched me." He spoke between bites, being careful to wait until he swallowed his food so as not to talk with his mouth full. "And there was a Brown too."
"Um... I'm from Nerat." He shuddered a bit at the memory. Nerat was a place that Dia was glad to be away from. He did not fully understand that he would never be able to go back there, that in a sense he had gone to a different world and a different time. It would not have broken his heart if he did know that though.
The mention of Nerat had rather cost Dakian his appetite, though he was close to full anyway. He spoke softly, "I'm just glad not to be there anymore."

Filipek nodded as Dakian discussed the Dragon's he'd seen, and where he was from. Noticing the little frown on the blonde's face, and the sudden decrease in eating made Filipek wary. He wouldn't want to bring that subject up again then. Obviously some rather bad things had happened.
"Are you almost done then?" He asked, gesturing with his chin at the remains of Dakian's meal.

Dakian nodded. He really was full, or at least close to full, so forcing a few more bites to clear his plate would have been unnecessary. "Yeah, especially if I get to eat like this every day!" With the attention being off of his former home, the cheerfulness of the boy returned.
He beamed up at Filipek. "Thank you for waiting on me."

"No worries." Filipek said breezily. And he stood, saying goodbye to his friends, and making vague sounding reasons for leaving that all of them would quickly realize meant he was going off to spy upon the Clutching Queen.
Then, moving to stand beside the younger candidate, the tall blond man moved towards the exit, his blue eyes excited to see something new, something exciting.
End?
